General Purpose and Scope of Position:

The Regional R&D Field Development Specialist is a pivotal role responsible for the design and placement of regional branded crop nutrition, plant health, crop protection, and adjuvant research trials and demonstration plots with growers and contractors as well as final analysis, summarization, reporting, and presenting to internal and external audiences. This includes collecting and prioritizing trial ideas and requests from the Wilbur Ellis Territory Managers, Portfolio Managers, R&D team, and key stakeholders. This role will also provide branded products technical support and information to the Branded Products team and to Regional Sales. Substantial travel during the cropping season. The Regional R&D Field Development Specialist is expected to observe the trials for quality and make key observations as well as travel as needed to present trial results and attend planning meetings.

Key Skills and Abilities Include:

  • Deep understanding of production agriculture field practices, industry crops, and technologies
  • Strong background in crop nutrition, soil science, plant health amendments, crop protection, adjuvants, and biologicals
  • Experience and training with experimental design, trial planning, data capture, analysis, and reporting. Experience with ARM software is preferred
  • Strong ability to manage and optimize processes and programs
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation and communication skills
  • Experience working with growers, sales staff, and contract researchers
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office Suite applications
  • B.S. degree or higher in a Soils, Agronomy, Plant Sciences, Horticulture or Crop Production discipline. M.S. or Ph.D. preferred
  • CCA License preferred

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple trials

Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:

  • Prioritize, design, plan and place value-added nutrition, plant health, crop protection, adjuvant, and other trials across all crops in designated territory and into contiguous cropping areas in surrounding states in consultation with our Territory and Portfolio Managers, R&D, and Sales Teams
  • Manage large amounts of data, analysis, and trial summaries resulting in data sets and summaries ready for marketing or registration
  • Support Regional, R&D, and Branded Product teams with identifying market and product opportunities
  • Support our Sales, Branded Products & Advanced Agronomy teams with data and ideas for product and agronomy training
  • Provide regular communication to management and our formulation chemists on product performance, trial progress, plans, and goals
  • Prepare and present research and demonstration trial data to diverse internal and customer or stakeholder audiences

Compensation and Benefits:

  • In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $73,800 - $98,400. Note that salary may vary based on location, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for vacation, holidays, health, dental, vision, mental health, retirement plans, and other benefits.
