The Role: The Refugee Adjustment Support Group Facilitator provides a weekly adjustment support group for the Dari/Pashto Speaking community. This group will consist of community members. The goal is to promote greater self-efficacy, support family and community functions and dynamics, decrease social isolation and increase community integration. This position will work 20 hours a week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Facilitate weekly - biweekly community outreach and support group for the Dari/Pashto Speaking Community, following the Pathways to Wellness: Integrating Refugee Health and Wellness, or other approved curriculum
  • Adjust and augment curriculum as needed based on presenting issues of client base
  • As participants are identified for further support, the Adjustment Support Group Facilitator will offer case management, and/or make referral for mental health and medication management services.
  • Provide services following program procedures in order to ensure fidelity
  • Ensure accurate and timely administration of pre and post surveys, participant sign in sheets, and other documents.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation and notation, including input of client profile information, progress notes, and other necessary notation.
  • Ensure client barriers to participation in groups are addressed, arrange interpreter and/or transportation if needed.
  • Coordinate with community partners for guest speakers to attend group sessions
  • Participate in weekly supervision meetings with Program Manager
  • Identify participants with emergent needs in order to refer to external partners for culturally appropriate emotional support
  • Partner with internal programs and with mental health clinicians in our multicultural counseling services to leverage supports for families
  • Refer families to existing refugee community networks and supports
  • Other duties as assigned by Program Manager
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Knowledge of and cultural responsiveness to the refugee population served
  • At minimum, must meet the requirements for an Agency Affiliated Counselor role in the state of Washington and have training/experience in evidence-based mental health treatment modalities.
  • Must have good communication and organizational skills
  • Must have mature work habits and be able to work without supervision and set priorities
  • Must have good teamwork skills
  • Must be able to work in a multicultural setting, with various community groups/leaders, volunteers, interpreters, and others
  • Requires strict adherence of HIPAA standards in the office and community to ensure confidentiality
  • A bi-lingual, bi-cultural community member with education, training and/or experience in the field of psychology, social work and/or behavioral health, is desired.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related behavioral science field required (or equivalent experience)
  • Washington State Mental Health Provider Credential preferred
  • Significant community and/or lived experience
  • Prior case management, group facilitation and mental health experience is preferred
  • Must have experience working with refugee families
