The Community Health Center of the New River Valley in Christiansburg, Virginia, has an opening for one full-time medical Referral Coordinator. Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 5, 40 hours/week. The position is based out of the Christiansburg office, however, the individual will travel to all of the Center’s sites, as well as work remotely part-time (after a successful 90-day review).

Candidate will be responsible for the process of scheduling and obtaining information necessary to complete the pre-authorization and benefit verification for surgical procedures, diagnostic imaging, LARC (long-acting reversible contraception), referrals, and medications ordered by the providers. This position will act as the liaison for providers, patients, insurance companies, and outside facilities regarding scheduling, checking insurance eligibility, and obtaining prior authorization for these services.

This role would be primarily a referrals-based role, with additional training to cover Diagnostic Imaging and Prior Authorizations. This position may require the individual to fill in for other members of the Referral Team as needed.

Candidate must have a high school degree and one year of office-based primary care experience, preferably in the referral area. Only those with previous medical office experience will be considered.
