What You Will Do

This position is for a Health Physics Field Coordinator 4 who will be a part of the Radiation Protection Programs Group as the RCT Training Implementation Program Lead.


  • Serve as the Lead Practical Trainer in the instruction and execution of the RCT practical training program, to include providing: Radiological instrument OJTs, RCT practical evaluations, formal classroom instruction, oral evaluation boards, and exam proctoring;
  • Participate in the development, testing, and evaluation of new and revised RCT training program materials and initiatives;
  • Participate in the instruction of the RCT continuing training program;
  • Oversee the tasks and responsibilities of the RCT practical trainers.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery of OJT or formal classroom radiological training;
  • Knowledge of the training development process, to include: Application of the Systematic Approach to Training through the development of lesson plans, OJTs, and course materials;
  • Knowledge in implementing radiation protection programs and procedures in operational environments;
  • Experience performing high-hazard radiological work;
  • Knowledge and experience in responding to radiological incidents and emergencies;
  • Knowledge of federal and local regulations pertaining to the content and requirements of an RCT training program.

Education and Years of Relevant Experience
Position requires bachelor's degree in Health Physics, Business, or related field and 12 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:
  • UTrain administrator
  • TSQP Specialist
  • Qualified OJT Instructor/Evaluator or Classroom Instructor
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Adobe PDF software products
  • NRRPT certification
  • RWP Authority
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering practical training and evaluations for the LANL RCT Initial Training Program

Clearance
Active DOE "Q" or other Top Secret clearance.

Essential Job Functions(can perform with or without reasonable accommodation): Ability to lift 50 pounds and carry 35 pounds; Reading vision; Ability to speak; Ability to hear in a normal range (500 to 3000 htz).

Work Environment: Use of protective clothing, including safety glasses and radiological anti-contamination clothing.

Location: This position will be located in Los Alamos, NM.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
