PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE: Performance of the contract shall be for one (1) year from the Date of Award with four (4), one (1) year option periods or whenever services are no longer needed and/or funds are exhausted.

WORK SCHEDULE: Primary tour of duty is a pert-time 1, 2, or 3 days per week and is based on an agreed schedule including days and on-call status. The schedule may also include evenings, nights and weekend shifts.

On-Call Response: The employees on-call will not be substantially restricted from their off duty activities. The response time for on-call employees to report back to the duty station will be determined by the Employer. The contractor will respond to a callback within 15-20 minutes

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Adhere to the accepted standards and ethics, and policies and procedures adopted by the profession and the organization and regulated by law.

2. Upon order of the health care provider, produce quality diagnostic images for use in diagnosing medical problems in a hospital or clinic setting. Use knowledge of anatomy, physiology, patient positioning and radiographic techniques and protocols in the technical performance of medical imaging procedures.

3. Conform to regulations to prevent unnecessary radiation exposure for patient, self and others by surrounding the exposed area with radiation protection devices such as lead shields, or limiting the size of the x-ray beam.

4. Modify radiographic procedures to accommodate for changes in patient conditions, technical factors, types of equipment, contrast media utilized and other variables to produce radiographs of the appropriate density, detail, and contrast.

5. Evaluate digital radiographs for optimal diagnostic quality to include positioning, technical factors, legal identification and use of protective devices.

6. Keep patient records. Approve, deliver to archive and forward digital radiographs to the radiologist in a timely manner. Be familiar with the policy and procedures pertaining to the delivery of radiology services needed

On-Call Conditions:

The following conditions will apply to all employees assigned to on-call status:

a) Patient condition needs to be considered when determining the appropriate response time.

b) Employees assigned to an on-call status must respond to the facility within the response time.

c) Employees must leave a telephone number where they can be reached so they can be contacted and they may acknowledge the call or call back in case of an emergency.

d) With advance notice and approval from the employer, contractor on-call shall be allowed to exchange call or otherwise arrange for another qualified contractor to fulfill their on-call responsibility.

e) Failure to respond on-site after proper notification to a call for duty, may subject the contractor to disciplinary action.

f) Payment for authorized callbacks will be paid in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations. The contractor shall be paid for ALL hours in callback status as well as all hours when engaged in job duties when called to return to work.

g) The Employer will determine when the need for the on-call contractor’s services have ended, allowing them to leave the premises. If a contractor who has left the facility premises after being properly released from duty by the Employer and is called back to the facility to perform more work, the contractor shall be compensated for an additional call back. If there are any changes to current laws, the parties shall meet to review the laws and/or regulations and engage in bargaining as may be appropriate or comply with the same.

h) Contractors’ are free to pursue their normal activities so long as they remain available for call in case of emergencies. Employees’ off duty activities cannot impair or prevent them from being able to report to duty and fully perform their required duties.

i) The employer will designate an on-call station for each contractor, such as the medical facility, or other adequate quarters, which may include government housing. If the contractor utilizes government housing, a rental agreement will be required to be signed and a daily rent will be charged to the contractor.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:

  • Knowledge and skill to operate CT (Computed Tomography) and DR (Digital Radiography) and to provide the basis for a wide variety of specialized medical diagnosis. The knowledge and skill may have been obtained through formal classroom instruction.
  • Knowledge of physical diagnosis and clinical courses of disease.
  • Must be capable of recognizing quality diagnostic films and consulting with the supervisor.
  • Complete knowledge of complex instrumentation utilized to extract the finest quality performance from the equipment.
  • Ability to deviate from normal techniques and/or protocols when necessary and to develop new and better techniques to keep diagnostic capability up to date.
  • Knowledge of radiation protection standards, devices, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Knowledge of methods, techniques, and QI

QUALIFICATIONS:

a. Be paid on an agreed upon hourly rate

b. Submit an invoice with the tour of duty hours worked and approved by the Radiology Director/Supervisor.

c. Abide by all HIPAA and Privacy Act requirements.

d. Will comply by taking all mandatory health safety and training courses.

e. Obtain personal liability insurance.

f. Submit copies of current immunizations.

g. Submit verifying current ARRT registration.

h. Submit verifying current CT certification.

i. Submit a document of current CPR certification.
