What does a Quality Assurance Supervisor do at Swire Coca-Cola?

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the laboratory team in assuring product conformity and compliance to internal and external quality & food safety standards as established by the QA department, company and regulatory requirements. You will verify various routine monitoring, checks and testing raw, in-process and finished products/processes as well as initiating root cause and corrective action for nonconforming materials and processes. This position also requires ongoing constructive engagement with staff to provide working knowledge of QA functions on the frontline and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include:
  • Uphold all safety practices to prevent injury from unsafe work practices and/or conditions. Report all safety hazards or potential hazards to the safety team representative and management. Identify and train team to potential hazards
  • Supervise QA techs in accomplishing daily task, calibrations, verifications, troubleshooting and processes
  • Seek and provide coaching opportunities to improve competency and quality of work on the frontline. Benchmark success of goal and objectives for employees including routine check-ins on development.
  • Oversee the daily monitoring of plant sanitation and personal hygiene as outline by Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) for food processing facilities in CFR (Title 21, part 117) and current company GMP Policies. This includes assisting in monthly GMP internal audits
  • Actively participate in Root Cause and Corrective Action of non-conforming products as directed by mgmt.
  • Monitor adherence to all required work instructions, work aids and forms as they pertain to Quality, Environment, Safety, and Food Safety including training verifications of SOPs as directed
  • Understand, monitor and act accordingly to support: ISO-GFSI, Safety and Environmental compliance, FDA-FSMA regulatory requirements, Food Safety & Quality programs as implemented by the company. This individual has the authority & responsibility to stop production should the product be out of specification and/or observed food safety or compliance breach.
  • Monitor proficiency of laboratory personnel and provide feedback to improve the knowledge base of the department
  • Verify routine calibrations and verifications of laboratory equipment and inventory are in compliance with company protocol
  • Lead and initiate the troubleshooting of systems, equipment and processes which affect overall quality and food safety of product
  • Ability to perform standardized quality sampling & checks during production; organize collected data into electronic logbooks, databases, and report variances and non-conformities to plant management.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with plant wide supervisors to achieve overall goals and objectives
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement, lean practices, six sigma, 5S, food safety, environmental and plant safety programs
  • Pursue excellence and continuously develop technical and personal skills to achieve plant-wide world class manufacturing environment
Requirements:
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science or related field
  • 4+years’ experience of Food Manufacturing in Quality Assurance. 5-10 years of production experience may substitute for QA experience or demonstrated proficiency in Quality Systems.
  • Demonstrate ability to actively participate in a positive and engaged team atmosphere
  • Lead process and others in routine QA daily activities, supervise staff, scheduling, timekeeping, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Competency in laboratory sampling, testing, safety and handling of hazardous materials.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to properly understand and relay important safety and quality information.
  • Work well with others to establish and maintain excellent interdepartmental relationships
  • Readily accept instruction from management and execute effectively
  • Highly Motivated self-starter
  • Must have experience with MS Office and ability to comprehend various quality software suites
  • Beverage industry experience a plus
