Quality Assurance Engineer (Saugerties, NY)

The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the site’s product realization processes set and exceed the standard of world-class performance for quality, cost, and delivery, so that Edwards can, in turn, provide a world-class product to the semiconductor industry, each time, every time.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains compliance to ISO 9001 (Quality Management System) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) through the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of process documentation, nonconforming product, and internal auditing.
  • Monitors and analyzes nonconformance reports and performance data (i.e. including but not limited to CAPAs,Quality Control Metrics, CI projects, OTD, etc) for correlations and trends that could identify high-risk, recurring, or systemic issues and proactively report these quality performance statistics to internal stakeholders, VP Quality Assurance and Regualtory Affairs and supply chain management.
  • Understands, audits, and continuously improves internal processes and process validations to assure internal product-realization processes are adequate to meet Edward’s quality requirements and specifications and produce quality components on time, every time.
  • Partners with internal process owners, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and stakeholders to initiate and facilitate internal, customer and supplier 8D Corrective and Preventive Actions that ensure robust root cause analysis, complete and thorough containment, comprehensive implementation of corrective actions, and objective verification of the effectiveness of corrective actions to permanently address root cause.
  • Participates in product quality planning and control process based on custmer specifications and requirements to ensure the voice of the customer in quality shapes the process
  • Informs site management team regarding customer feedback and expectations on product’s quality
  • Assits in the training and guidance of internal stakholders in identifying and developing problem soling methodologies to resolve supplier, internal and customer -identified quality issues.
  • Assists in New Product Development activities to identify risk mitigation, capability assessment and process control activites that will prevent quality issues
  • Assist the process owners to identify, develop and improve product quality processes based on ISO standards that meet the needs and expectations ofhte customer
  • Address cuatomer quality issues in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Document and maintain records as required by ISO standards
  • Conducts random in-process inspections of operations processes to determine process compliance and product adherence to documented requirements.
  • Evaluates and determines reduced or increased inspection and/or audit plans based on risk assessment of internal performance, part/process criticality, and the effectiveness of existing supplier and internal Edwards controls.
  • Establishes and enforces a proactive communication mechanism that will provide cross-functional process owners with a consistent, timely assessment of their quality performance and will invite internal feedback that may reduce costs and improve quality.
  • Acts as Lead Internal Auditor for site Quality and Environmental Systems
  • Complies with Safety Rules, Regulations and OSHA Requirements.
  • Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance; works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Respectfully takes direction from VP Quality Assurance and Regualtory Affairs and other duties as assigned.


Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

  • Knowledge and recent experience in product inspection, process auditing, compiling/analyzing/reporting performance data, reading and understanding drawings/specifications/technical requirements, leading process improvement initiatives, facilitating the completion/close out of 8D CAPAs.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Quality Auditor (CQI) preferred, not required.
  • 5 years of experience using quality tools (i.e. documentation support, root cause analysis, 8D, process auditing, inspection, process definition, continuous improvement) in an ISO 9001:2015 environment.
  • Self directed, experienced leader with excellent communication skills.
  • 10% annual travel.


Education Level:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science/Technical Discipline preferred, not required

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. This position requires frequent computer use. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • This position requires occasional domestic and international travel for 10% of the position; often overnight or multiple days.
