  • Within the guidelines of the Family Dollar and Dollar Tree Quality and Compliance Policies Manuals, manage the quality and regulatory compliance process for Food and Beverage and Pet products. Scope encompasses 3rd party lab partners, Merchants, Buyers, Sourcing, China based QA, Suppliers and, and, where applicable, Legal and Regulatory bodies.

    Deliverables
  • Align category-specific processes and procedures with Family Dollar policies, goals, and objectives.
  • Own 3rd Party Lab test protocols and for the assigned categories. Propose changes/updates to protocols as needed.
  • Communicate new regulations and requirements to buying teams and other interested departments well in advance of effective dates.
  • Manage inspection, testing and other QA and compliance processes in assigned categories including exceptions,
  • Create and maintain FSVP (foreign supplier verification program) for imported human and animal food and beverages.
  • Prepare and manage documents required by regulatory bodies such as FDA & Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
  • Stay current on new regulations, procedures, and reports required in assigned categories.
  • Coordinate Family Dollar recalls and withdrawals associated with the assigned categories.
  • Follow up on Supplier/Factory CAPs and dispositions with Buyers / Merchants.
  • Manage testing schedules by reviewing and interpreting test results to ensure compliance for the supplier and the company
  • Follow and update SOPs as required. Propose policy and procedure changes when needed.
  • Collaborate with Suppliers through Buyers, Sourcing, Tar Heel QA, and directly when needed to assure QA and regulatory processes are aligned with product lifecycle workflow.
  • Seize opportunities for cost, turnaround, and process effectiveness and improvement through project proposals. Marshal resources necessary to complete the projects.
  • Assist Legal in matters related to industry litigation and product recalls.
  • Qualifications:
  • Positive individual who thrives on building new processes and influencing others in a dynamic, fast paced environment
  • Bachelor’s degree, with a preference for a degree in Quality or a chemical or food discipline.
  • Seven years of related experience. Demonstrated leadership and cross-functional collaboration with internal and external teams.
  • Strong knowledge of food quality management systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Working knowledge of food safety as well as test methods and standards.
  • Experience working with overseas agents, indirect vendors and manufacturers. Experience preparing and managing FSVPs a plus.
  • Ability to proactively recognize and address potential issues which could impact merchandise quality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, SharePoint
  • Experience working with PLM systems a plus
  • HACCP or PCQI certification a plus
