Quality Control Technician - Construction

BLDM, is searching for a Quality Control Technician to join our electrical division’s construction team. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in the engineering, and construction industry!


What you’ll do:

Duties of QC Technician

  • Inspection of all materials and equipment to verify their conformity with the technical specifications.
  • Supervision of all quality control tests required by the technical specifications.
  • Supervision of tests when required by the technical specifications.
  • Make daily reports on the work performed by the contractor daily.
  • This position may also manage duties related to document control and support of operations.


Duties of Document Control

  • Control the distribution, access, and format of program management records and documents in accordance with the established distribution lists, workflows, and plans.
  • Review it for completeness, clarity, approvals, and release authorization of all documents.
  • Enters the document into the document control system per established processes.
  • Monitoring program correspondence to ensure that transmitted documents have been received and to ensure that documents requiring response are returned in a timely manner, per Task Order or PO requirements.
  • Processing revisions to controlled documents in the same manner as the original documents and superseded documents, if retained, are identified as such.
  • Tracking and providing general maintenance of the daily traffic of documents and communication. This includes general project correspondence, project reporting, implementation of the management plans, and maintaining the overall hard copy and electronic filing systems.


What it takes to be successful in this role:

  • Candidates with the following combination of education and experience will be considered for this role:
    • BS in Electrical /Civil Engineering or Construction/Project Management preferred, or at least an Associate degree, AND
      • Registered Professional Engineer with one year experience, OR
      • Registered EIT with two years’ experience, OR
      • 4 years’ experience
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication.
  • Must have Basic Math, Calculator and Microsoft Suite Computer Skills
  • Ability to receive work instructions and follow tasks.
  • Must be able to work off shifts and overtime.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record (required)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, move, push, and pull up to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound.
  • Ability to kneel and squat occasionally.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold)
  • Ability to climb occasionally.
