HCA Solutions is currently seeking one highly qualified candidate to provide Psychiatry services to the Western State Hospital in Staunton, VA!

Generally, full-time is defined as forty hours per week; eight (8) hours a day, five (5) days a week; however, the work hours and workweek may vary at each facility depending on the facility’s needs and the position.

Each facility will identify the work hours and workweek at their location when requesting temporary employees.

There may be requirements for evening, weekend and overtime work. Overtime hours are hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week. Overtime must be approved by the Purchasing Agency. Generally, evening hours are after 5 PM; and weekend hours are 5:01 PM Friday evening– 7:59 AM Monday morning. However, each facility hours may differ. Each facility will identify the evening and weekend hours for their location when requesting temporary employees

Psychiatrist's care shall cover the range of Psychiatry services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility and the standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding currently recognized TJC, VA and national standards.

The Psychiatrist shall:

• Make specific recommendations for further evaluation, medication, psychological services, environmental change and/or hospitalization.
• Make provisional recommendations for treatment, specifying conditions; and for medications, specifying type(s) of medication(s) and dosage(s).
• Be responsible for involuntary commitment hearings and court-related activities as necessary, in consultation with the facility.
• Confer with the facility psychological, medical, counseling and security staff during time not used in evaluation and treatment of individuals and in consultation with the facility, in the treatment and management of specific individuals, and in the general prevention, recognition, handling and treatment of psychiatric disorders.

Psychiatrists (as appropriate and within scope of practice/privileging) shall be responsible for providing Psychiatry care, including, but not limited to:

• Follow-up on Psychiatry Issues
• In-patient Psychiatry Consults
• Out-patient Psychiatry Consults

Requirements for Psychiatrist:

• Full and unrestricted medical license
• Current ACLS/BLS certification
• Proof of CE completion as requested
• Hold current and valid DEA certification.
• Hold current and valid National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• Current PPD
• Provide verification of any hospital privileges.
• Proof of Vaccinations, including Rubella and COVID-19 (Be able to provide evidence of any additional immunizations as required by the DBHDS.)
• Be able to provide evidence, on an annual basis, of a current Purified Protein Derivative (PPD) or evaluation of no PPD reactor.
• Be familiar with Electronic Health (EHR) Record system and Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE). Upon orientation to the EHR, ensure order entry and documentation in the medical records.
• Have a degree from an accredited medical or dental school.
• Have a copy of graduate medical or dental training (residency/fellowship).
• Have a current, valid license to practice medicine or dentistry in the COV.
• Be a graduate of psychiatric residency with Board eligibility or certification, with postgraduate and residency training in psychiatry from Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited or American Medical Association (AMA) approved programs.

Board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology preferred, but not required.
