Psychiatric Technician- Full Time day shift (no weekends)
Job description
PrimeCare Medical is currently looking for a Psychiatric Technician to work day shift Monday-Friday (10 AM- 6:30 PM) in the medical department at the Westmoreland County Prison. In this role the Psychiatric Technician will serve as the mental health liaison between the medical unit and facility staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- answering the psych line
- Monitor Patients physical and emotional well-being and report unusual behavior or physical ailments to the mental health and medical staff.
- Observe and influence patients behavior, communicating and interacting with them, and teaching and counseling them.
- Develop and teach strategies to promote client wellness and independence.
- Conducting wellness checks and follow-ups
- Interview new patients to complete admission forms in order to assess their mental health status and to obtain their mental health and treatment history.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS or BA degree in psychology or closely related mental health field (or currently enrolled in school working towards)
- Experience working with emotionally disturbed, mentally ill, or developmentally disabled patients is a plus.
- Experience working in a correctional facility a plus.
- Strong Interpersonal and Observational skills
