Project Manager Lead/Project Manager
Manchester
Salary: £37,639 - £46,385 (dependant on skills and experience)

We’re GCHQ, and we unlock the complex world of communications to make a real difference to the safety of the nation. We work closely with our partners in the intelligence community to safeguard Britain’s people, interests, and businesses from threats such as serious organised crime, people and drugs trafficking, terrorism and cyber-attacks.

We’re looking for proactive and creative people to keep a close eye on the unique work we do. As a Project Manager in our award-winning team, you’ll manage lots of different complex projects, working closely with colleagues to deliver them from start to finish. This will include creating, updating and monitoring plans, as well as managing budgets and financial forecasting. No matter the type of project, you’ll be comfortable communicating with and influencing external partners and engaging with a variety of different people.

We’re recruiting for Project Managers and Project Manager Leads. At the lower grade, you’ll focus on planning, and implementation, supporting a technical team with exposure to the entire project lifecycle. And at a more experienced level you’ll also select a range of delivery approaches to meet the demands of our projects, while providing support to less experienced Project Managers.

To join us as a Project Manager at a more junior level, you won’t need any formal qualifications, but experience in a project related role is required. But the more experienced grade Project Manager will have extensive experience in a project related position – some of which should be in the role of a Project Manager. As a lead within Project Management, it is desirable to have obtained a related qualification (for example Prince 2, APMQ, SAFe, SCRUM).

But most importantly, we’re looking for someone who enjoys delivering results, is adaptable and forward-thinking, and who’s committed to supporting and developing others. And with a background of delivering projects with a strong customer focus, you’ll understand exactly how to adapt your methods. Plus you love communicating and collaborating with others, so you’ll be comfortable turning customer needs into achievable goals.

In return, you’ll enjoy benefits including 25 days’ annual leave (plus 10.5 days of public and privilege holidays), as well as on-site facilities including a subsided gym and restaurant, and much more. Finally, there’s the fact that you’ll enjoy plenty of purposeful challenges and unique projects you just won’t find anywhere else.
