Experience:

  • 18 months of role experience is required.
  • 12 months of Progressive Care Unit experience is required.
  • 18 months of travel experience is required.
  • Experience with Epic is preferred.
  • Experience with Alaris is preferred.
  • Experience with Omnicell is preferred.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have a South Dakota license or compact license in hand at the time of application.
  • This role will require floating to multiple units
  • COVID vaccination required for onboarding. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

Additional Information:

Scheduling:

6-week schedules

Weekend rotation: Travelers could be scheduled for up to 4 out of the 6 weekends, which include Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Please include in offer if traveler is open to working every weekend (WOW) as this may be a possibility

Will they be on call? No mandatory call time. If it is an extra shift on top of their already guaranteed hours, and we have enough staff then they could be placed on call for that shift

Holiday Expectations: must be RTO request prior to offer – at this time Holiday RTO is not being accepted

Approval of time off? Able to approve 1.5 weeks off – must extend contract to accommodate a full 13-week contract. Blackout dates from August 3-17th (exact dates change each year) due to our Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. No time off is approved during this time.

Floating:

Will float where needed within (or below) their scope of practice. Most commonly to Medical (sister unit)

Skills required:

Previous experience with our types of patients above, including IMC/stepdown and neuro; ability to read/interpret cardiac strips, wound care, line management, drain/tube management, drip titration of below medications

Drip Titration: most commonly – Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Levophed (up to 5 mcg), occasionally esmolol drips (will train if traveler has not done these) or other Betablockers or other antihypertensives

Required Education:

Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing
