Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 11 states.

We are seeking a Program Specialist in Washington, PA. This role helps determine the best training methods, assistance, and supports for an individual.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2 year of work experience with adults with disabilities; OR Associates Degree and 3 years working with adults with disabilities
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of state regulatory agency operations and standards relevant to supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities (6400 Regulations)
  • Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with individuals receiving supports
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in crisis situations

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for day-to-day operations of 6+ group homes
  • Manage staff of Program Managers and Direct Support Professionals including evaluations & annual reviews
  • Monitor and schedule required staff trainings', seminars, and conferences.
  • Monitor fiscal, medical, personal and ISP documentation to ensure accuracy.
  • Monitor and schedule house and vehicle maintenance.
  • Oversee the maintaining and monitoring of individuals' finances.
  • Cooperate with audits, inspections, and investigations
  • Build a support network between the individuals and community members, including their family and/or guardian, staff, employment specialist, case manager, and other professionals
  • Prepare progress reports for consumer's immediate support group.
  • Ensure consistent service delivery that connects work, home, and recreational needs.
  • Submit monthly written reports to the appropriate individuals outlining operational status, progress, and concerns.
  • Serves as an active member of an individual's Interdisciplinary Team (IDT), which includes involvement in Individual Habilitation Plan development
  • May perform the duties of Direct Support Professional as necessary, in accordance with current staffing needs.

Working Conditions:

  • May be required to be on-call in cooperation with other management staff
  • Frequent lifting, stretching, and other physical exertion may be required
  • May be required to transport individuals utilizing your own vehicle or company provided vehicles
  • May be required to lift or move 25+ pounds
  • May assist with wheelchair transfer of non-ambulatory individuals
  • May be exposed to various medical conditions and communicable diseases
