The Program Performance Analyst is an important role in ensuring success of the newly established Program Performance Office responsible for capability building and performance tracking of outcomes, milestones, and objectives (e.g., budget) of the HBCU Transformation Project across United Negro College Fund, Inc. (UNCF), Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), and Ed Advance. The analyst will report directly to UNCF’s Sr. Director of Program Performance Officer and collaborate directly with personnel from UNCF, TMCF, Ed Adv and donors.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Develop content to support and facilitate joint decision-making meetings

Produce content /data needed to support and capture meeting notes reflecting main decisions and outcomes for monthly /quarterly meetings

With guidance from Sr. Director of Program Performance Officer, support and lead weekly performance office meetings and engaging intermediary personnel (e.g., institutional program managers) as needed. Capture and track actions and follow up as needed

Produce content / data needed to support discussions / updates with existing investors (e.g., BMP) and potential investors / stakeholders to expand relationship base in supporting the broader collaboration of UNCF, TMCF, and Ed Adv in supporting HBCUs

Support in tracking program performance and delivering delivery of program outcomes

Conducting ongoing data analysis to inform continuous improvement and corrections for overall program performance

As needed, help to define and align on interim measures /indicators across intermediaries for outcomes and milestones to provide more frequent, directional indication of progress toward outcomes and milestones

Support Sr. Director – Program Performance Officer in maintaining the most recent view of program performance across variety of formats needed (e.g., institutional deep dives on performance)

Coordinate monthly review of progress across institutions using the preferred data governance platform across intermediaries (e.g., WAVE, Technolutions Slate)

Coordinate quarterly reconciliation and impact tracking of intermediary spend to grant allocation (including programmatic / financial reporting)

Support management of program performance

Work directly with intermediary personnel (e.g., governance committee, shared service initiative owners, institutional program managers) to ensure consistent tracking toward outcomes, milestones, and objectives of the HBCU Transformation Project

Brief Sr. Director – Program Performance Officer on issues/update (in structured top-down manner, as needed), facilitate discussion / present in meetings (as needed), and serve as thought partner in probing initiative rationale (e.g., questions to push problem solving, clarifications)

Support initiative owners across intermediaries with the development of business cases, including thought partnership in refining analyses on feasibility, cost, and revenue impact of all initiatives. As appropriate, provide an independent perspective to initiatives through best practices from HBCUs (or other higher education) related efforts, industry trends; conducting market research; etc.

As needed, lead and conduct training for new intermediary personnel related to the initiative creation process

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or similar field

  • 3-5 years of corporate and or professional services experience focused on transformations, operations, and / or finance/accounting
  • Background in modeling (e.g., excel)
  • Experience working in higher education (e.g., institutional research)
  • Experience in project management role involving senior executives is a plus
  • Advanced data analytics, visualizations, dashboard development and/or statistical tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, Python, SQL, etc.) is a plus

  • Excitement for the HBCU Transformation Program goals and belief in the mission of helping expand HBCUs’ impact
  • Has a can-do attitude, growth mindset, and is open-minded and willing to try new things
  • Pragmatic problem-solver (80/20). Demonstrated aptitude for analytical/conceptual problem-solving, comfort with quantitative analysis and managerial accounting
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while balancing attention to detail
  • Comfort and experience with analyzing data and helping to structure data for data-informed decision making
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and across organizations with the ability to communicate well with roles of all levels
  • Ability to build and create content across a variety of formats (e.g., Word, PowerPoint)
  • Program management experience on driving large-scale, transformational change programs is a huge plus

Salary range:

Begins at $70,000 - $95,000 salary commensurate with experience and location (This position may reside in Washington, DC or Atlanta, GA)

Salary range may be lower/higher in other geographic locations.
