Under direction of the Director of Career Readiness within the office of Career and Professional Development Services (CPDS), the Program Manager is part of the One University Model that provides leadership, strategic direction, technology resources and career support specifically to the State Farm Pathways for the Future (PFF) scholars program. The Program Manager utilizes strong attention to detail and superior organization skills to manage a cohort of scholars and their career and professional success. The successful candidate must be flexible and must enjoy working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment; possess the skills to manage competing priorities and design strategic efforts while collaborating with a wide-range of internal and external stakeholders to the PFF Program. This role will work closely with the Program Manager overseeing the entirety of the PFF/ASU partnership.

Essential Duties

  • Coordinate all aspects of the partnership between CPDS and PFF focused on the career, internship and professional development of students in the program. This includes the career centers in Fulton Schools of Engineering, W. P. Carey School of Business, and The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
  • Develop, facilitate, evaluate, and maintain career programming tailored specifically to the needs of Pathways for the Future Scholars. Programming can relate to topics such as job search strategies, resume writing, creating LinkedIn profiles, interviewing strategies, preparing digital portfolios, and negotiating salaries.
  • Provide direction and oversight in the development of a virtual PFF Career Transitions and Success Center (fully online and digital) while working with internal and external stakeholders to surface the most critical and scalable resources.
  • Supervise professional staff and student leaders working on or contributing to scholar cohort programming and case management, and capturing and assessing scholar career outcomes.
  • Engage with Pathways for the Future (PFF) students and alumni in career and professional development activities on a regular basis both in-person and in virtual settings.
  • Provide monthly reports to key stakeholders on student progress related to career development and engagement, measuring and assessing internships and job offers secured by program participants, and PFF alumni engagement.
  • Utilize the ASU Mentor Network platform to develop short and long-term mentorship opportunities for PFF students with alumni.
  • Participate in a variety of working groups related to the PFF program.
  • Develop and track budget operating expenses related to the program.
  • Manage all phases of project development as assigned by a variety of entities across the university.
  • Successfully move a project from inception to completion in a timely manner while communicating effectively, managing details, coordinating with key stakeholders, and meeting specified deadlines.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with both internal and external partners including employers, vendors, students, university leadership, and community stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff and partners regarding project status and needs.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to diverse groups, large and small, in person and virtually.
  • Participate in a variety of events outside of the day-to-day responsibilities of Career and Professional Development Services in order to support the success of students and alumni. These can include freshman move-in, networking mixers, football games, fall welcome activities, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field AND five years administrative/coordination experience; OR, Master's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND three years administrative/coordination experience; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Professionally represent our efforts to PFF Program scholars along with community partners, State Farm leadership, and university faculty/administrators.
  • Work collaboratively across various departments at ASU as well as with diverse populations and groups both inside and outside of the university.
  • Use critical thinking to make decisions and analyze data.
  • Conduct research to develop and implement effective programs in support of the PFF Program.
  • Develop tools and approaches to assess the efficacy of our programming efforts.
  • Develop budgets and monitor expenditures.
  • Supervise professional staff and student workers.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Use computers effectively - including inputting, reviewing, and retrieving information; and working in front of a computer for extended periods of time while using a mouse and keyboard.
  • Walk throughout campus for meetings or events, regardless of the weather.
  • Comfortable sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs.
