While this announcement notes a "La Junta" location, this position is considered hybrid and will be assigned to the local workforce center located closest to the applicant's residence and may require reporting to the office per the supervisor or business needs of the agency.

Salary Range:
$25.88 - $32.80 Hourly
$2,070.46 - $2,623.85 Biweekly
$4,486.00 - $5,685.00 Monthly
$53,832.00 - $68,220.00 Annually

The Southeastern Workforce and South Central sub-areas, which covers 14 counties, and the Eastern Workforce sub- area which covers 10 counties. The Workforce areas are comprised of 11 local offices, and 28-32 staff, who exist to deliver the full array of employment and training services to both employer and job seeking customers. The services provided include account management; recruiting, screening and hiring; assessment and training; human resource augmentation; and consulting. Additionally, workforce is responsible for the development and ongoing activities of community partnerships, industry specific sectors, workforce and economic development focused groups, grant program application and management, “lean” focused initiatives, and other activities associated with the demand side of the workforce pipeline. Services administered to job seeking customer include the full array of career and training services outlined in the Wagner Peyser and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Acts.

This position serves as the Program Assistant II across the Southeast, South Central and Eastern sub areas and provides state personnel, budgeting, contract, facilities and other supportive/coordinating services to all associated staff, and assists area management in the administration programs. This position also works closely with the centralized administration unit based in Denver.

This position supports program administration and provides office management to staff in the Eastern, Southeastern and South Central sub areas. This includes tracking expense reports (client and operational), providing monthly budget reports, initiating and tracking the movement of administrative requests (purchases, computer support, expense payments, etc.) through the Department’s processes, approving staff leave requests and ensuring office coverage, and supporting the logistics of all program-related events (such as job fairs, conferences, trainings, etc). Serves as personnel liaison for these sub areas to include; keeping track of attendance, staff leave and personnel records, input of monthly timesheets and staff leave into the Kronos timekeeping system. Handles all invoicing, purchasing card coordination, and contracts/leases as needed. Analyze program issues and troubleshoot those that arise in these sub areas with regards to work processes, delivery of designated services and supplies, interpretation of rules and regulations, policies and processes. Researches and provides resolution for administrative or office issues. Position is required to write, modify and finalize correspondence; develop and maintain administrative operations. File systems; Provides additional support to these sub areas with respect to travel. Oversees all travel reimbursement requests and approves local travel of field staff as needed. Makes selections for board meetings and official functions and coordinates special projects. Provide technical assistance, as needed, to other workforce programs, i.e., plan and coordinate conferences for workforce programs, serve as a point person for projects such as the Virtual Workforce Centers. Order all office and equipment supplies, forms and equipment for the workforce areas and maintain supply levels and organization across offices. Position coordinates events across all 24 counties, including job seeker workshop registrations. Administers and maintains centralized email inbox, event RSVPs, and dissemination of digital information (e.g. newsletters, Constant Contact account, social media accounts, website, etc). Provides backup to local office staff, provides redundancy on completing Web Job Orders. Coordinate Employment Services Complaints and EO Officer duties (i.e., fields complaints to appropriate manager and ensures centers are in compliance with ADA regulations.

Education & Experience
Five years of experience in an occupational field related with providing program support. To include; taking complex ideas, synthesizing information from various sources, and writing in clear language that is easily understood, and professional experience using Google applications and Microsoft Office suite.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Able to work independently and receive direction from multiple managers and directors on duties and projects.
  • Understanding of CDLE systems to input and retrieve data as necessary.
  • Have good grammar, spelling and communication skills.
  • Able to coordinate projects, meetings and events independently.
Required Competencies:
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding of the necessity and value of accuracy and attention to detail; ability to process information with high levels of accuracy.
  • Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of techniques to ensure clear understanding and ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concerns, tools, and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Written Communication: Knowledge of written communications issues and ability to produce a variety of business documents that demonstrate command of language, clarify of thought, and orderliness of presentation.
  • Copywriting and Editing: Knowledge of a variety of formats, styles, and techniques for publishing materials; ability to develop and review these materials to promote business related activities.
