Print Production Specialist

Job Duties

The Supreme Court of Ohio is seeking to fill the position of Print Production Specialist in the Office of Public Information. The Print Production Specialist produces digital and printed materials for staff and external audiences as part of the Supreme Court of Ohio’s comprehensive public information and education program.

What You'll Do:

  • Work as a member of the Office of Public Information Creative Services Work Group to Receive and format digital files for output to Print Production Center Equipment (including digital printers, trimming machines, binding equipment, booklet makers, stamping machines, presses and other equipment).

  • Manipulate pre-designed digital files for high speed printing, using latest graphic programs (e.g., InDesign, Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator) on Windows platform. Combines artwork files with computer generated vector or raster line art as needed.

  • Submit pre-flighted files to current platform postscript Imaging Process unit and operate Fiery software (e.g., PitStop, Acrobat Pro, Command Work Station or similar) on high speed color printers and digital printing presses.

  • Use design mediums (e.g., typography, photography, stock images, color, paper stock, size distribution) to design materials (e.g., posters, brochures, booklets, newsletters) and review final draft with approving internal customer.

  • Coordinate printing and delivery of communication materials and publications (e.g., training materials, displays, posters, brochures, booklets) throughout the Court.

  • Maintain software and program files.

  • Work with IT to install all upgrades & new software on PC and Fiery equipment.

  • Maintain an archive of program files, artwork, & fonts for all projects.

  • Assist in the identification of outside qualified print vendors when needed and coordinate the work of these vendors.

  • Maintain the supplies and materials of the Print Production Center and reorders.

  • Maintain production reports and log data into Excel spreadsheets or other project tracking software used within the PIO. Supply supervisor with data reports as requested.

  • Answer routine questions and provide advice for customers to help them achieve their goals and to expedite jobs in a cost-effective manner.

  • Troubleshoot hardware & software problems. Perform routine maintenance on print production center equipment. Make service calls and maintain responsibility for service and repair of all equipment in the Print Production Center.

  • Maintain the organization, cleanliness and safety of the Print Production Center.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • At least 5 years experience in print production, high school education and previous customer service experience is required.

  • The ability to sort and organize inventory of supplies is required. Must be able to prioritize duties with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 70 lbs. on occasion. The ability to frequently deliver supplies to various offices is required.

The starting salary range, which is commensurate with experience, is $50,000-$60,000.
This is a non-exempt unclassified position that reports to the Creative Services Manager.
