BWXT is currently seeking a Technologist for its Lynchburg, VA location!

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Performs reviews of technical requirements and manufacturing specifications, helps to maintain process and procedural qualifications, evaluates situations, and creates plans and procedures to meet specifications for product and administrative requirements.
• Supports time and cost estimates.
• Reviews and supports engineering technical reports, papers, and conducts both formal and informal communication with internal and external customers.
• Solves a wide variety of technical issues by collaborating with area experts.
• Participates in meetings and interacts with customers, vendors, other department representatives.
• Reviews and comments on existing procedures, and assists in generating new analytical procedures or revising existing ones.
• Participates on process improvement teams.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

• Minimum Associate’s Degree in science/technical field OR a high school diploma/equivalent plus four (4) years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field is strongly preferred.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Should be a self-starter capable of demonstrating initiative and able to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures, and/or other standard work practices.
• Should possess the ability to work both as an individual and within a multi-discipline team environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to generate reports and present data is essential while also demonstrating a high level of attention to detail.
• Computer skills required include Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc. or comparable programs. Experience with C++, Visual Basic, CAD, Solid Edge & Microstation, and/or SAP is desired.
• Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
