Zachry Group is currently looking for a talented and self-motivated Process Engineer to join our Engineering Department in Corpus Christi, Texas. The Senior Process Engineer will successfully provide engineering support for various projects within the energy & chemicals industry, perform as a lead Process Engineer on assigned projects, mentor junior engineers, and support proposal development.

Responsibilities

  • Perform as a Process Lead on revamp and EPC projects.
  • As it pertains to Process engineering scope, participate in project planning and preparation of work-hour estimates.
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Present process knowledge and technical information to peers or others as needed
  • Help implement operating procedures.
  • Analyze operational issues with equipment and systems and recommend appropriate action to ensure continuous and reliable operation.
  • Evaluate equipment and process design to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and approve work of engineers and/or designers.
  • Mentor junior process engineers.
  • Able to work with teams in remote offices as well as regularly interface with customers.
  • Provide project progress reports, schedule input, and recovery plans to ensure on-time completion of deliverables.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • 15+ years of experience working as a Process Engineer within the Energy & Chemicals industry.
  • Hands on experience as a lead, supervisor, or manager in process engineering.
  • Experience applying standard engineering techniques, ‎procedures, and criteria in compliance with safety and environmental regulation.
  • Experience in the design of relief systems including flare header design/analysis relief valve sizing and performing contingency analysis.
  • Proficient in performing hydraulic calculations, heat and material balance calculations.
  • Experience in sizing and rating of process equipment (pumps, vessels, and exchangers).
  • Proficient in creation/modification of Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagram, Heat and Material Balance, and facility layout documents.
  • Proficient in the use of Aspen Hysys Process Simulation software.
  • Knowledge in overall control philosophy and facility operating procedures.
  • Support Process Hazard Analyses, HAZOP, and LOPA studies.
  • Execute Conceptual and FEED studies.
  • Knowledge of Environmental, Health, and Safety guidelines and practices.
  • Under minimal supervision, capable of planning, scheduling, and executing quality design packages.
  • Ability to independently organize and prioritize work assignments and coordinate a variety of tasks, with good attention to detail and ability to deal with conflicting priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent Communication Skills (Active Listening, Verbal, and Written).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a lead, supervisor, or manager in the process engineering field.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) Certificate
  • Supervisory experience leading a group of process engineers on a $100MM or greater project.
  • Engineering services and EPC experience supporting refining, petrochemical, specialty chemicals, and/or biofuels conversion projects.

Physical Demands

Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, use of arm/hand steadiness, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, multi limb coordination, oral expression, and comprehension. May be required to lift, carry, and move objects safely.

Work Environment

Work will be in a general office environment operating and functioning in a fast-paced work environment. Occasionally required to work in an industrial location where noise levels will be moderate to high. Job sites may contain the following: light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools, people standing, walking, sitting, signaling, and talking. Noise levels vary and may include bells, whistles, and alarms.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $74,386.15 - $142,823.06 per year
