POSITION SUMMARY

Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Inc. (MEPPI) is looking for a Manufacturing Process Engineer I to Participate in and coordinate the development of improved designs and processes for manufacture by serving as liaison between Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality and suppliers. Identify, develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Act as the engineering liaison between Design Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing departments.
  • Perform research, design and development of manufacturing processes and methods including production flow, assembly and equipment.
  • Perform product and process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement and efficiency. Identify and recommend improvements to manufacturing processes and methods.
  • Investigate manufacturing assembly problems and collaborate with Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing personnel to resolve them.
  • Assist Design Engineering with creating new and modifying existing Bills of Material and Bills of Manufacture to support design and process improvements.
  • Assist Design Engineering, Quality and Purchasing to ensure Bills of Material and Bills of Manufacturing are structured to facilitate process and cost improvements to purchasing and manufacturing practices.
  • Provide engineering support for: development of standardized/configured design criteria across product lines, development of new products and assembly of prototypes, introduction of new products into production, and creation and maintenance of assembly procedures in HVSD’s manufacturing engineering system (QUINTERRA).
  • Support and assist the Design Engineering, Production, Manufacturing, Quality and HVSD Department Managers as needed.
  • Further the goals and positive, professional image of the High Voltage Switchgear Division through effective interaction with vendors and internal departments.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering or technical field with 0-2 years of related experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of mechanical assembly, fabricating methods and practices, industrial engineering, and lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Intermediate interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communicate with suppliers and employees.
  • Intermediate analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to read and create technical drawings and material.
  • Intermediate computer skills with emphasis on 3-D CAD software, MS Office products and ERP/MRP systems.
