Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Process Engineers have the overall responsibility for the manufacturing processes and their control. They establish medium range objectives for process improvements including cost savings and quality improvements. These responsibilities are to be carried out in a manner which stresses safety, yields quality product, efficiently uses labor and materials and is consistent with company policies, customer service and plant objectives. They work closely with the Quality, Production, and Maintenance departments. The primary duties of a Process Engineer include:
  • Understands, follows and enforces all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures and recognized practices.
  • Understands, follows and enforces all established policies, procedures and recognized practices.
  • Responsible for the training and development of the machine operating staff and the process education of the Shift Supervisors.
  • Performs major process troubleshooting when beyond the level of the operating staff.
  • Exercises direct control for the quality of the containers being produced and for the operating effectiveness of all lines.
  • Coordinates with the Maintenance Manager and Plant Engineer to develop a preventative maintenance plan that effectively uses both maintenance and molding resources to maintain the equipment as required for the production lines.
  • Responsible for the ordering and inventory of spare parts for the molding process.
  • Assure proper inventory levels of resin materials and work with the Production Manager and department to coordinate the usage of required resins, regrind and color concentrates.
  • Coordinate and perform all resin and color samplings.
  • Accountable for the ordering, inventory and usage of resin, regrind and color concentrates. Performs resin and color sampling.
  • Develops and evaluates process tooling and new mold start-ups, coordinating this activity with the Corporate Engineering Department.
  • Coordinate and plan proper resources for line changeovers.
  • Develops new methods and equipment improvements to existing line conditions.
  • Attends meetings as necessary for operations planning, safety, QA, etc.
  • Participate and/or facilitate “Continuous Quality Improvement” teams for plant improvement.
  • May be responsible for special projects related to other functional areas.
  • 0-75% travel may be required.

Process Engineers are required to interact with other managers, employees, vendors, and customers. Therefore, the following skills and proficiencies are also essential requirements of the position:
  • Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.
  • Computer usage and typing skills are essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability it work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Communicates effectively: conveys facts and information clearly both verbally and orally.
  • Collaborates well with others: proactively contributes to group objectives; volunteers to help others.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree is a requirement for this position, preferably in engineering or related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering is also preferred
Compensation Statement: The expected salary range for the position described in this posting is made in accordance with the legal mandates of certain jurisdictions within the United States. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience. Benefits Statement: Benefits include medical, dental, vision and basic life insurance.
