Job Summary and Qualifications

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN), the PCT assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with the PCT’s skills/training and the needs of the Department, and consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment. The PCT complies with all hospital policies/procedures and observes the State Board of Nursing rules for unlicensed personnel.

What you will do in this role:

  • Assists with turning over operating rooms between cases. Removes used linens and places in bag for daily pickup, removes garbage from operating room and recovery room, and dusts all shelves and countertops.
  • Assists in sterile processing, as needed.
  • Performs terminal cleaning of surgical area.
  • Assists with keeping waiting areas, lobbies, utility rooms, and patient care areas safe and clean for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Checks/empties sharps containers throughout facility.
  • Cleans and remakes stretchers/OR tables.
  • Assists in monitoring and recording in environmental and equipment log.
  • Maintains sufficient supply levels, cleanliness and orderliness of all equipment and supplies. Maintains expiration dates of supplies and assists in restocking and ordering.
  • Keeps scrub sinks clean and free of debris. Stocks scrub brushes, antimicrobial hand washing solution, and surgical supplies.
  • Distributes clean linen and scrubs to all appropriate areas. Keeps caps, masks, and shoe covers stocked.
  • Keeps the warmer stocked with blankets, as applicable.
  • Ensures adequate supply of paper towels, toilet paper, and soap for all bathrooms and sink areas.
  • Performs clerical work as needed, including data entry, assembling charts, filing, answering and transferring phones, and relaying messages.
  • Interacts with patients, fellow employees, physicians, and other stakeholders in a manner which encourages quality patient care, harmonious working relationships, positive customer relations, and which enhances the image and reputation of the center

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved)
