Job Summary:

Sodexo at Walnut Hill School for the Arts seeks experienced chefs who have a passion for culinary arts to join our team starting this academic year. This position works closely with and reports to our executive chef. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists with the preparation of food for special functions as needed
• Prepares vegetables, main entrees, soups, gravies, and sauces for service
• Keeps executive chef informed of any problems that arise during preparation
• Assigns tasks to team members based on preparation lists
• Maintains a clean and sanitary work area
• Tests cooked food by taste, temperature, and smell
• Prepares and sets up food for the meals for the day
• Begins food production for the following day, as needed
• Creates and places orders for produce, bread, and milk; communicating with the chef as necessary
• Maintains temperature logs for food preparation, holding, cooling down, and reheating
• Assumes responsibility for daily sanitation checklist of area and equipment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
• Reading and writing skills in order to understand recipes and instructions
• Judgment and planning skills to make decisions for preparations
• Light to heavy lifting of pots and pans full of products
