Examples of Duties

DEFINITION OF RESPONSIBILITY

Under close supervision, operate and maintain reproduction equipment used for in-house printing and document scanning services.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES


  • Programs and prepares jobs for printing, Color printing, photographic reductions and enlargements, punching, binding and folding.
  • Setups, programs and releases jobs from print queue.
  • Monitors quality of job output for correctness and image quality.
  • Documents scanning prep, which includes removing binding elements, locating, and removing obstructions to pages, optimizing pages for capture process, and correctly organizing the files for scanning based on instruction.
  • Scanning to include operating and maintaining equipment and capture software, feeding documents, reviewing images for quality, and achieving minimum production requirements.
  • Data entry indexing that requires alpha/numeric typing and/or capturing of required data based on instruction.
EXAMPLES OF OTHER DUTIES
  • Prepare billing for work completed and related clerical duties such as counting, sorting, and filing.
  • Places orders for printing supplies.
  • Maintains inventory record of supplies.
  • Maintains daily print job production logs and daily delivery manifests.
  • Manages copier leases for the Towson campus.
  • Manages vendors for out-sourced printing services.
  • Documents clean up that includes deleting blank pages that were missed during scanning process and rotating pages to ensure correct orientation, when required.
  • Reordering scanned pages.
  • Quality Assurance (QA) after scanning to include:
    • checking images and data for quality and accuracy.
    • ensuring capture of all pages and quality of scanned images.
    • ensuring accuracy of indexing/data entry.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Possession of a high School Diploma or equivalent,

PLUS

Six months’ experience in operating reproduction equipment and/or scanning equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Entry-level)


  • Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.

  • Completing assigned tasks within established deadlines.
  • Ability to read and understand operating manuals.

  • Must have strong attention to detail with focus in Quality Control and Indexing.
  • Ability to use various scanning and viewing equipment and tools to ensure accuracy and quality while meeting goals and requirements.

Employees hired after July 1, 2022 are required to participate in the Baltimore County Employees' Retirement System, with very limited exceptions.

Incumbents must be of good moral character and emotionally stable.

This position is required to be on-site, everyday. There is an occasional (one – two times per year) need for flexibility with scheduled hours for special print requests, which may require working weekend or evening hours.

Physical and Environmental Conditions

The work of this classification entails frequent walking, standing, lifting and carrying heavy objects, and the operation of equipment requiring the use of coordinative and manipulative skills. Some duties require exposure to potentially hazardous conditions such as chemicals and the moving parts of a machine. Applicannt must have the ability to lift cartons weighing up to 50 pounds, as required.

Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation
Applicants selected for an appointment to a position in Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination and drug screen and a comprehensive background investigation which includes but not limited to a criminal background check, psychological and polygraph examination, and fingerprinting.

Job candidates may be required to complete an expanded background investigation, polygraph examination, and psychological examination.

Employees contribute a portion of the premium through monthly payroll deductions. The County also offers an Additional/Employee paid Life Insurance plan with coverage up to $100,000.

Retirement
Employees are required to participate in the Baltimore County Employees' Retirement System, with very limited exceptions.

Paid Leave
Sick Leave - Monthly sick leave earnings prorated based on the number of hours worked per week. No maximum on accrual. Accrued balance can be applied toward service credit at retirement.

Vacation Leave - Monthly vacation leave earnings prorated based on the number of hours worked per week. Earnings increase after five, ten and fifteen years of service generally.

Holidays - Part-time 30 to 39 hour non-merit or non-classified employees will generally be paid for ten holidays per calendar year. Other part-time, non-merit or non-classified employees working 29 hours per week or less will receive two paid holidays per calendar year. These holidays are the Christmas holiday and the Independence Day holiday.
