The Principal Engineer I, reporting to the Engineering Manager, will work with backend Scrum teams to develop and execute Omni Pharmacy Vision & roadmaps. As a Principal Engineer I, you will be directly developing Business capability & Experience APIs. You will partner with architects, product managers, and fellow engineers to build products used to improve the health outcomes of millions of people. You are considered a subject matter expert in software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle. This includes coding standards, code reviews, source control, performance testing assessments, mentoring, and leading/Contributing to COPs focusing on cloud migration, API modernization.
You will also be responsible for leading initiatives, tracking API VALET metrics, and contributing to key pharmacy Solution OKRs.

Location:
This position will be a Hybrid role that can be based out of Woonsocket RI, Chicago IL, Scottsdale AZ or Dallas TX, but also open to locations outside these areas. Additionally, there will be travel needed for PI Planning and Senior Leadership meetings 4 to 6 times a year.

About this business unit:
Digital Pharmacy Engineering would play a critical role in the success of a digital pharmacy business unit, as the technology is at the core of the business model. Customer Solution train, part of the Digital pharmacy unit enables various pharmacy experiences that helps patient to manage their prescriptions online, enroll in patient care programs to ensure they are adherent to the therapy and medication. In addition, it offers personalized health content based on their healthcare needs.

The digital pharmacy engineering unit works closely with other teams, such as product architecture, marketing, security, operations, and customer support, to ensure that the technology aligns with the needs of the business and the customers.

Work breakdown structure for this role:
  • In this position, you'll be dedicating 70% of your time to coding with tools such as IDEs (IntelliJ IDEA or VS Code) , Version control (GitHub, GitLab) , and build tools (Maven, Gradle etc.).
  • You'll also be responsible for mentoring and guiding team members for 10% of your time.
  • Collaborating with professionals in various disciplines, including product, architecture, and business, will take up 20% of your time.

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
Minimum: 115,000
Maximum: 230,000

Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.

Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years’ experience in systems analysis and application program development
  • 5+ years of experience in various J2EE technologies including Hibernate, Struts MVC Framework and Spring Framework such as Spring MVC, IOC, AOP and Spring JDBC
  • 4+ years in depth knowledge of JAVA/J2EE development, microservices design and development using Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, JWT, Oauth 2.0
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud computing technologies. Possess a track record developing in GCP or similar public cloud environment
  • 2+ years of experience working with DevOps technologies such as Kubernetes, Argo, GIT, Jenkins, Maven, JUnit, Docker, JMeter etc.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in large Retail, Pharmacy, a plus
  • Experience with Nodejs, AngularJS nice to have
  • Experience in Retail Pharmacy – Modernization with decommissioning legacy systems
  • Strong desire to build in test from the start with TDD development experience
  • Experience with Agile/ SAFe Software Development Principles

Education
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or equivalent work experience is required
