Principal Electro-Chemical Engineer - Fuel Cell Systems (Hybrid)

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

Collins Aerospace is one of the world's largest suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and defense products. The ISR & Space Systems business unit provides products and services to global government and commercial customers that enable mission success in the harshest environments of space, in the air, at sea, and on the ground. We design and manufacture fuel cells for naval and space applications. The electro-chemical engineer will be responsible for early research, design, and development testing of new fuel cell system concepts as well as support the transition from development products to production and be a technical interface with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Researches new fuel cell designs and technologies
  • Writes test plans and procedures
  • Designs fuel cells and fuel cell systems
  • Tests fuel cell designs and systems
  • Directs others performing test operations
  • Writes technical reports

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience OR In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder, or U.S. Citizen

  • Mechanically inclined
  • Working proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to build positive relationships
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Promotes teamwork and an inclusive environment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Experience with fuel cells
  • Experience in an R&D laboratory or production support environment
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis methods
