We are a Laser Eye Surgery Center who performs Cataract Surgery, Refractive Lens Exchange, Implantable Contact Lens, LASIK, SMILE, and PRK.

Job Skills and Requirements:

• Good communication skills.
• Adequate understanding of operative procedures required patient preparations and expected postoperative care.
• Knowledge and understanding of care given in the freestanding ambulatory surgery unit.
• Skilled in patient population and age-based competencies.
• Able to recognize and report hazardous equipment.
• Knowledge of the mission, policies, procedures, philosophies, standards, goals, and objectives of the center as well as the organization’s plan for improvement; especially those pertaining to the pre and post-operative areas.
• Dresses within the dress code requirement of the facility.
• Sufficient computer skills to work with EMR and facility e-mail.
• Knowledge of checking oxygen and blood pressure
• Ability to learn how to check eye pressure and vision

STANDARDS PRE-OPERATIVE AREA
1. Opens building for the day
2. Stocks and restocks area. Assures the availability of necessary equipment and supplies.
3. Identifies items needing to be reordered.
4. Assists in the proper preparation of supplies and equipment in patient area.
5. Keeps area neat, clean, and patient-ready.
6. Communicates clearly with team members, physicians, patients, and family as needed.
7. Correctly identifies the patient.
8. Introduces self to patient and care persons.
9. Identifies patient using 2 methods.
10. Admits patient to pre-operative area, checks oxygen, BP, eye pressure and checks vision and knowledgeable of pt’s allergies.
11. End of shift: closes rooms by turning off tvs, slit lamps, and cleaning/restocking.

POST-OPERATIVE AREA
1. Clarifies with patients their knowledge of their one-day or one week post-op appointment.
2. Prepares refreshments for the patient.
3. Explains discharge instructions
4. Assist patient with transportation to their vehicle
5. Clean chair and other equipment.
6. Set up a station for the next patient.
7. Restock supplies, refreshments, sheets, and biohazard bags.

WORKING CONDITIONS Constant walking, frequent standing. Exerts 10-25lbs of force, occasionally exerts up to 75lbs of force. Stooping, crouching, and kneeling; over and below head level reaching. Lifting and carrying 10-15lbs.

Required: Medical Assistant degree or higher

Hours/Days: Mondays and Wednesdays 600am-3:00pm

Job Type: Part-time
