Sunshine Enterprises is a 501© 3 nonprofit based in Chicago, IL. Sunshine Enterprises fosters economically viable communities through training, coaching, and connecting high-potential entrepreneurs. Sunshine Enterprises’ mission is to empower high-potential entrepreneurs living in under-resourced neighborhoods to grow businesses and transform communities. Sunshine Enterprises’ vision is to establish 5 neighborhood-based business hubs catalyzing free enterprise in Chicago’s under-resourced neighborhoods. Currently, we serve hundreds of unique entrepreneurs throughout the Chicago area in three main business hubs servicing neighborhoods such as Woodlawn, Englewood, West Evanston, Rogers Park, and North Lawndale. Each of these hubs has been strategically placed in areas suffering from a lack of jobs, marketplace resources, and growth opportunities. These hubs provide an economic stimulus to the communities by supporting local entrepreneurs. SE also has developed specialty hubs focused on the property management and construction trades industries.


Position Summary

The Senior Marketing Project Manager will support the mission of Sunshine by co-facilitating overall marketing strategy to develop and manage Brand Identity, communications content, strategy (definition, story, guidelines, approach to Branding), and execution of marketing plans and goals throughout the year.

This position requires 50% of administrative support via design, communication system management, and social media management. It also requires 25% of strategic support in which the coordinator will be asked to provide strategic recommendations for how to grow and maintain our brand given the statistics of our social media platforms. Lastly, it will require 25% service delivery to the Program team in which the position will provide materials to the team for recruitment efforts and event purposes.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The duties include but are not limited to the following:

Strategy development


  • Help develop annual communication, branding, and digital marketing strategy
  • Create quarterly reports for the board and team
  • Develop and maintain an annual content calendar
  • Establish and utilize KPIs to inform Marketing strategy
  • Directory and Data cleanup for email/phone
  • Social media account cleanup and follower build-up
  • Bolster and launch Grad photo and contact info database
  • Website posting of newsletters/blog
  • Website enhancement recommendations

Graphic Design and Flyers

  • Design of flyer templates
  • Make modifications to existing flyers or change information requests
  • Development of marketing collateral such as brochures, flyers, and others.

Manage all social media, including SE Facebook and Twitter accounts

  • Update several times a week with news, events, and pictures
  • Engage with partners and clientele (retweeting, comments, liking/favoriting, etc.)

Sunshine Enterprises newsletters

  • Write and/or Edit newsletters (three audiences: internal, alumni network, and partner)
Work with Managing Director to craft partner newsletters
  • Brainstorming ideas for the 2 features in each
  • Arrange and conduct interviews with CBA and BAS clients
  • Manage the schedule for interviews and a communications calendar Team
  • Attend weekly team and department meetings
  • Collaborate with members of Programs and Operations teams on client highlights, external showcasing of SE, news article interviews, etc.
  • Assist in planning, marketing, and execution of special events (graduations, workshops, etc.)

Public Relations work


  • Assist in writing and publication of press releases
  • Manage Media relations
  • Attend occasional events (partner fairs, expos, graduations, etc.)
  • Other duties not otherwise specified

Required Skills and Abilities

Two years of experience in a similar position with marketing and social media management.
strong written and verbal communication skills.


  • Technical: Google Suite, Canva, Mailchimp, Social Media (FB, IG, Twitter, etc.). Digital media experience.
  • Preferred- Adobe Suite and graphic design experience.


Minimum Education and Experience

To perform this role successfully, an individual must have the following education, licensure, and/or experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
