Job description

The West Central Dispatch Center is accepting applications for the position of Full Time Police Dispatcher. We are a consolidated center that provides emergency 911 & police dispatch services for the cities of Creve Coeur, Frontenac, Ladue and Town and Country.

Essential Job Functions

- Receive and processes all incoming 911 and non-emergency telephone calls. Obtain information necessary to determine nature and priority of response.

-Prioritize calls for service and dispatch appropriate unit(s) to respond based upon incident criteria.

- Create and maintain electronic records and logs of activity as required using a computer aided dispatch (CAD) system.

- Monitor and operate a two-way radio to communicate with field personnel and surrounding agencies.

-Monitor surveillance cameras and alarms.

-Enter persons of interest, stolen vehicles, stolen articles, missing persons and other information onto REJIS/MULES.

-Read and interpret maps and understand geographic features and street locations.

-Maintain REJIS and MULES certifications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

- Performs work with a high level of accuracy, concentration, attention to detail and multi-tasking.

-Excellent oral and written communication skills; Ability to speak clearly and concisely.

-Ability to work under pressure, handle stressful situations and cope with emergency situations.

-The ability to work well in a team oriented environment.

-Ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner.

-Good listening skills; Ability to hear and understand radio transmissions and signals.

-Sound critical thinking

-Ability to operate standard office equipment

-Type a minimum of 40 wpm

Education, Qualifications and Experience Required

-Prior police dispatching experience is required.

-Minimum 18 years of age

-High school diploma or equivalent

-Must pass criminal background check; No felony convictions or undesirable criminal history

Our full time benefit package includes:

-Starting annual salary $47,500

-Permanent days or nights, 12 hour shifts (40 hour work week), with 3 days off weekly
