  • Demonstrates competence in the performance of duties and responsibilities related to plumbing design, installation and repair.
    • Design, install and repair hot and cold-water systems.

  • Design, install and repair heating and cooling piped systems.

  • Design, install and repair sewer systems.

  • Design, install and repair medical gas systems.

  • Install plumbing components.

  • Maintenance and repair of boilers

  • Design, install and repair steam systems.

  • Design, install and repair sprinkler systems.

  • Installation and repair of plumbed and steamed equipment

  • Performs preventive maintenance of plumbing components and systems.

  • Uses meters, gauges, and testing equipment to detect or identify plumbing problems and appropriate paths of repair.

  • Demonstrates competence in the performance of duties and responsibilities related to repairs and installation.
    • Swimming pool maintenance

  • Minor electrical repairs (fuses, ballasts, and devices)

  • Minor plumbing repairs (faucets, toilets)

  • Uses hand and power tools properly.

  • Inventory and maintain supplies.

  • Demonstrates competence in the performance of duties and responsibilities related to security.
    • Confronts and reports unauthorized personnel if needed.

  • Turning lights on/off at appropriate times

  • Demonstrates competence in the performance of duties and responsibilities related to the operation of boilers.
    • Uses computer-based energy management program to regulate controls of facility.

  • Takes log readings in boiler room as required.

  • Cleans boilers and floor area around boilers.

  • Makes rounds of all mechanical rooms to log appropriate readings and check doors for security purposes.

  • Demonstrates competence in the performance of duties and responsibilities related to minor repairs and requests.
    • Replaces ceiling tiles.

  • Stops or contains leaks.

  • Stores hazardous waste properly.

  • Delivers oxygen tanks.

  • Demonstrates competence in the performance of duties and responsibilities related to snow removal, building and grounds maintenance.
    • Salts and sands walkways when icy as needed to supplement snow removal vendor.

  • Checks conditions of sidewalks and parking lots during inclement weather

  • Assist contractor as needed by operating plow, tractor and snowblowers to remove snow.

  • Contacts appropriate personnel if needed.

  • Demonstrates competence in the performance of duties and responsibilities related to communicating and proper documentation.
    • Refers repairs to Plant Operations Manager when appropriate.

  • Documents repairs, work orders and PM's accurately and in accordance with Plant Operations policies and procedures

  • Responds to calls from other departments appropriately.

  • Forwards uncompleted tasks to next shift or Plant Operations Manager

  • Immediately reports any unusual circumstances to Plant Operations Manager such as but not limited to utility failures, adverse weather conditions, internal/external disasters.

  • Identifies operator errors and provides informal user education to staff.

  • Demonstrates competence in the performance of duties and responsibilities related to safety.
    • Uses only tools that are in good working order.

  • Follows all codes such as but not limited to: OSHA, TJC, NFPA, NEC, BOCA, CDC, NPC.

  • Participates in hospital disasters, fires, fire drills and other hospital emergencies.

  • Informs supervisor of any unsafe condition.

Qualifications

  • Education Minimum Required: High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC courses.
  • Education Preferred/Desired: Specialty courses through manufacturers.
  • Special Skills Minimum Required
    • ASSE 6010 Medical Gas Installation Certification required within 9 months of Date of hire.
  • Special Skills Preferred/Desired
    • ASSE 6040 Medical Gas Systems Maintenance Personnel
    • Licensure and/or Certifications Required
      • Drivers License, ASME IX Brazer Certification (w/in 9 months), ASSE 6010 Medical Gas Installers Certification (w/in 9 months), NH Plumbing License
    • Licensure and/or Certifications Preferred/Desired
      • Boiler Certification, Plumbers Master
