This is a part-time position in the Talihina hospital laboratory, and must be available to work variable hours (first, second, or third shift)

This position is subject to the Supreme Court's mandate for the COVID-19 vaccination. The Choctaw Nation offers medical and/or religious exemptions to those who cannot get the vaccine.
You will report to the Laboratory Manager
Primary Tasks:
You will perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on patients of all ages. You will follow the sterile procedure appropriate technique and approve collection equipment to obtain required specimens for testing.
You will maintain the knowledge and skills necessary to obtain and process specimens from the following age groups: Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescence, Adult and Geriatric.
You will obtain positive identification by name and date of birth from each patient, or from hospital armband or from nursing staff.
You will process all specimens requiring preparation for referral to reference labs.
You will maintain lab files in an orderly condition.
Physical Requirements: Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Even though the weight lifted may be very little, a job is in this category when it requires a good deal of walking or standing, or when it involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls. To be considered capable of performing a full or wide range of light work, you must have the ability to do substantially all of these activities. If someone can do light work, we determine that he or she can also do sedentary work, unless there are additional limiting factors such as loss of fine dexterity or inability to sit for long periods of time.
Required Education, Skills and Experience:
MINIMUM
High School Diploma or GED
Phlebotomy Certification
Performs venipunctures on adults and children.
