The Position:

The Pharmacy Manager will oversee the overall management of the Pharmacy and the staff’s completion of professional assignments. The Pharmacy Manager will direct high quality pharmacy services and provide medical supplies to customers and patients in accordance with established policies, procedures and laws regulating pharmacy practice. Responsibilities include:

  • Directs pharmacy and operations functions to ensure effective operations
  • Demonstrates understanding of USP 797 standards, USP 800 standards, and current State Board of Pharmacy (BOP) regulations.
  • Ensures compliance to standards of performance for pharmacy personnel, ensures adherence to all company philosophies, procedures and regulations
  • Provides and/or oversees compounding, dispensing, and clinical monitoring services prescribed by physicians or other mid-level practitioners and authorized medical personnel in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ensures that all pharmacy operations, practices and procedures meet all licensing and standards requirements established by local, state and federal agencies
  • Prepares prescriptions, solutions, and medications accurately and promptly
  • Conducts initial and ongoing assessment of specific patient, drug and disease information to identify real and potential drug-related problem or needs
  • Conducts and revises the patient’s plan of care
  • Prepares formulations for solutions/medications, and ensures the accuracy of the preparation; may oversee work of Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Interns
  • Participates in the preparation, distribution, security and maintenance of controlled substances
  • Monitors quality assurance programs in accordance with Company, policies and procedures
  • Interfaces with physicians and referral sources as required
  • Serves as a drug information resource to the sales force and participates in team selling and sales support
  • Prepares papers, reports, etc., for Company management
  • Maintains clinical skills and knowledge of pharmacotherapy and intravenous therapy by reviewing the literature and attending in-services, seminars and conferences
  • Ensures that all documentation necessary to support the billing process is completed and available in a timely manner
  • Selects, trains, develops and motivates a competent staff to procure, prepare and provide quality pharmacy services and medical supplies to patients and customers
  • Participates in branch management and inter-departmental meetings as required
  • Planning and implementation of departmental budget
  • Follows established channels of authority and communications throughout the organization
  • Participates in and maintains on–call schedule for pharmacists and covers as needed
  • Performs marketing support as requested
  • Adheres to all Company Policies, Procedures, and Standards of Conduct covered during initial orientation and referenced in branch handbooks, guides and manuals
  • Attends mandatory annual in-services that are required by current position held
  • Reports to the appropriate manager(s) any known or suspected violations of policies and procedures, regulations or standards of conduct
  • Remains current with the BOP continuing education requirements, and completes Soleo’s annual re-credentialing process.
Requirements:
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or BS in Pharmacy with appropriate experience
  • Current applicable home state licensure as a registered Pharmacist
  • Additional certification in specialty areas of practice (e.g. IgCP, CSP, BCSCP) preferred but not required
  • Prior experience with The Joint Commission or ACHC
  • Minimum 3 years’ pharmacy operations and clinical pharmacy home infusion therapy experience
  • Experience in and strong knowledge of IV admixture and clinical aspects of home infusion therapy
  • Management skills and experience in supervising the pharmacy aspects of home infusion therapy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary in interactions with patients, clients, management and staff
  • Excellent planning, problem solving, organizational, time management and customer service skills
  • Ability to work effectively with others and as part of a team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
