Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Pharmacist you will be responsible for monitoring, evaluating and making recommendations to assure the appropriate and effective use of pharmaceuticals for patient care with a focus on Neonatal, Pediatric and OB/GYN patients. You will interact with family/assigned guardians and health care providers as appropriate to define compliance with current standard of practice as well as assure continuity of services to achieve desired patient outcomes through safe, timely, cost-effective pharmaceutical care.

  • You will assist in the development and maintenance of NICU/Pediatric formularies
  • You will provide clinical pharmacy services for other areas of the hospital as requested by the director of pharmacy
  • You will assist with medication order processing in the main pharmacy during low volume times
  • You will participate in pediatric and other codes situations when appropriate
  • You will accurately and effectively provide medication therapy
  • You will make or recommend appropriate therapeutic interchanges
  • You will report adverse drug reactions and medication errors
  • You will provide patient medication counseling upon request

Work Schedule:7on/7off - Level III NICU covering up to 100 beds. Small Pediatric Unit


What qualifications you will need:

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)

Experience

  • Previous hospital experience
  • NICU experience or NICU Residency

Licenses and Certifications

  • Current Pharmacist license with Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification as per St. David’s Healthcare policy
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Live Support (ACLS) certification as per St. David’s Healthcare policy
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification as per St. David’s Healthcare policy
  • Sterile Products (IV) Certification through the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) - preferred

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).

The facility is home to St. David’s Children’s Hospital, St. David’s Women’sCenter of Texas featuring a Level III NICU, a Kidney Transplant Center, and the Texas Institute for Robotic Surgery.
