An Amazing Opportunity for an Amazing Full-Time Clinic & School Based Pediatric Occupational Therapist !

POSITION DESCRIPTION
  • Provides the highest quality age-appropriate care for patients newborn to 21 years of age within the scope of practice and established standards for occupational therapy.
  • Functions effectively as a member of the rehabilitation team, with collaboration with other disciplines of physical therapy and speech therapy.
  • Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services
  • Evaluates patients, meeting established standards, and creates a plan of care that addresses client and family concerns with meaningful and personalized goals.
  • Plans, organizes, and implements effective and appropriate treatments in a variety of sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities designed to achieve functional outcomes. Teaches patient skills and techniques required for participation in age appropriate daily activities that require fine motor skills, visual motor skills, sensory processing skills, attention, and motor planning.
  • Studies and evaluates patient reactions to the program and prepares effective treatment, reassess skills, modify treatment plans, and establish appropriate plan of care with progress reports.
  • Completes documentation, meeting departmental standards for content, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Includes family/caregiver in patient care and provides effective communication and education and documentation appropriate for learning needs of patient and family.

Responsibilities:
  • Knowledge of pediatric theory and practice.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective communication of information
  • Positive interpersonal skills and ability to function in an interdisciplinary environment
  • Flexible to changing schedules at multiple locations, or possible school system services.
  • Maintains excellent working relationships with source of referrals and patients/families.
  • Responsible handling of budget to maintain equipment, organize supplies, and use assets appropriately.
  • Effective time management skills to perform required evaluation, treatment, and documentation.
  • Essential function: Position, transfer, and apply treatment to patients, and manipulate equipment during the course of treatment.
  • Marginal functions: Visual acuity, hearing and speaking, oral and written communications. Usual amount of sitting, standing, lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, and carrying (up to 40 pounds independently) normally found in a health care environment.
  • Environmental factors: May be exposed to radioactive materials, drugs, blood products, communicable diseases, disagreeable odors, dust, fumes, gases, and changes of temperature and humidity. May be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.
Qualifications:
  • EXPERIENCE: Entry Level
  • PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS : 1 year of experience in pediatric or related occupational therapy
  • EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science, Master’s degree, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school
  • CERTIFICATION SUMMARY: Georgia occupational therapy license, Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment
