Summary or Purpose

Computes and prepares Borough Payroll. Maintain payroll files and related documents and records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain log of various related documents.

Ensure completeness of all incoming and outgoing forms pertaining to employees.

Checks documents for validity and accuracy of information; collects, records, files and distributes payroll related paperwork.

Process Personnel Action Forms and other source documents in compliance with Borough rules and regulations.

Enters payroll and related data into computer systems, and maintains information system database

Reviews and enters timesheets; brings timesheet errors to the attention of department timekeepers, verifies that corrections have been made to timesheets prior to entry.

Responds to requests for basic payroll information; directs more complex inquiries to senior staff.

Prints and distributes bi-weekly timesheets for all Borough employees.

May act as back up for Payroll Specialist II.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of Borough policies and procedures.

Knowledge of principles of record keeping and records management.

Skill in data entry.

Ability to create and understand mathematical computations.

Strong interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on customer service.

Education, Experience, Certifications and Licenses Required

High school graduate or G.E.D/or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.

One year of clerical work experience;

One year of experience of working with computers;

One year experience with payroll or accounting functions.
