OME (So Others Might Eat) exists to help homeless and poor individuals and families of Washington, DC. Our more than 30 programs throughout the District provide comprehensive services that lead to mental and physical health, continued sobriety, job training, living-wage employment, and affordable housing. Position Description: The Payroll Coordinator is part of the Payroll team which processes biweekly payroll for 400+ employees, monthly 1099 contractor checks and expense reimbursements, using ADP. Assists employees with answering questions and training on the payroll system. Additionally, the Payroll Coordinator handles all activities regarding wage garnishments.

Qualifications:

Required: Required: High School Diploma, 1 year payroll and accounting experience; ADP experience strongly preferred.

Preferred: 3 years payroll and accounting experience; ADP and Great Plains software experience; ADP Certification

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5pm or 9:00am - 5:30pm; remote schedule, candidates must be located in the DC/MD/VA region to attend office events as needed in NE Washington, DC.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of payroll regulations
  • Knowledge of ADP and Great Plains software preferred
  • Time managements skills, with the ability to deliver against deadlines
  • Customer service skills and the ability to work with staff at all levels of the organization
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Organizational skills with an attention to detail
  • Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

Expected Contributions:

  • Processes biweekly payroll (New Hires, tax forms, PAN, and Separation Notice) for 400+ employees
  • Process monthly payroll for 1099 contractors
  • Prepare and process journal entries for contractors payroll and employee payroll
  • Process employee expense reimbursement payment
  • Monthly upload of 1099 recipients to ADP and reconcile vendor files to ensure complete 1099 data
  • Process and enter court and child support garnishments in ADP
  • Reconcile actual garnishment payments to agencies with employee deduction report monthly
  • Process and enter direct deposit/cancellations in ADP
  • Monthly reconciliation of payroll general ledger accounts
  • Assist with preparing reports, including standard and ad hoc reports
  • Answers basic questions and resolves payroll issues to assist employees in understanding wage payments, procedures, and policies
  • Prepare payroll section of monthly grant invoices by providing a copy of the payroll register
  • Coordinate, prepare and file time and effort report for federal grant audits

Reports to: Payroll Director

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. Requires looking at a computer screen for several hours a day. May be required to sit for long periods.

Pay: $31.50 - $33.65 per hour
