Summary:

The AIC Patient Service Rep will be responsible for the scheduling and registration of patients, data entry into the facility's charging system, answering telephones and general customer service functions for both AIC and Home Health Care, performing courier services between the main campus and the AIC entity, maintaining a minimal level of all necessary clinical and business supplies, maintaining all necessary files and records, and all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Experience/Education Requirements:
  • High School diploma or its equivalent
  • Background in medical terminology desirable
  • MS Office skills necessary, ability to learn other software applications

    License or Certification Requirements:

  • CPR certification preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Able to organize and establish a patient chart from admission to discharge.
  • Answers & screens incoming calls to the department, with the appropriate disposition of the call performed with minimal assistance.
  • Assists in preparing departmental reports for internal and external sources.
  • Assists nursing staff in basic patient care and comfort measures.
  • Ensures that department forms and office supplies are in sufficient supply; ordering supplies as needed.
  • Faxes information for clinical staff as necessary.
  • Greets and directs visitors appropriately acting in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • Maintains information management per policy of organization.
  • Maintains records of patient satisfaction survey issues and participates in patient satisfaction issues.
  • Performs courier services between AIC and main hospital campus as necessary.
  • Performs patient registration and scheduling activities in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Performs timely and accurate data entry into system for charges to be generated.
  • Processes departmental mail in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Responsible for ensuring that supply orders are filled timely and accurately, maintaining inventory control of medical, surgical & office supplies.
  • Types letters, forms, meeting minutes & policies/procedures for department accurately & timely as requested
  • Responsible for complete benefit verification and obtaining authorizations for all infusion patients
