Job description

Assists patients and/or clients with their billing statements via phone, correspondence or direct contact. Responsible for the collection of patient accounts from insurance companies. Work patient accounts through the aging process identified by the computer collection systems to ensure effective and timely collection of outstanding accounts.

Responsibilities:

  • Places and receives calls regarding billing insurance questions and other patient service activities. Process accounts according to action required to resolve account balances.
  • Place phone calls to patients/guarantor based on account balance and account again, and establish acceptable payment arrangements.
  • Respond to patients inquiries and complaints via phone, mail and e-mail.
  • Research patient accounts to verify all insurance coverages. Audit patient accounts to verify proper billing process was followed.
  • Compute adjustments based on EOB's remittance advice's and insurance contracts.
  • Handle claim denials, researching codes/charges. Communicate with other departments, physicians and insurance companies, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year collections/billing experience in healthcare
  • Solid computer experience; prefer 10 key experience
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations
  • Strong time management and organization
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Schedule:

  • 80hrs/2wks
  • Weekdays: 8:30am-5:00pm
