Children's Dental Surgery currently has a full-time opportunity available for a Patient Care Assistant! The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) provides superior patient care within the prevailing state standards of practice and the policies and procedures of the surgery center. The PCA helps to maintain equipment, supplies, and the cleanliness and efficiency of the center, and serves as an assistant to the nurses in all areas of nursing care (preoperative, postoperative, and intraoperative).

Children?s Dental Surgery consists of five AAAHC-accredited ambulatory surgery centers, each offering a hospital-like setting for safely and effectively treating children in need of restorative dental work. Our centers are currently located in Philadelphia, Lancaster, Malvern, and Bethlehem, PA, as well as Jackson, NJ, and treat thousands of children each year. Our team of skilled providers includes board-certified pediatric dentists, board-certified anesthesiologists, and registered nurses to ensure every detail of our young patients? treatment plan is handled with care. Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate communication between patients, their parent(s)/ guardian(s), family, medical staff and administrative staff
  • Identify patient, escort patient to pre-op, operating room, or post-op
  • Sterilization of instruments
  • Sterilization of ORs and transitioning treatment areas for subsequent patients
  • Assist in preparing center for next day cases including picking cases, room preparation, preop and PACU room preparation
  • May operate or assist in operating various mechanical devices
  • May transport patients via wheelchair or stretcher within the Surgery Center
  • Assist with transport from the preoperative area to the operative area as well as to the post-operative area and discharge
  • Direct patient/parent inquires to appropriate medical staff member to ensue satisfactory resolution
  • Other duties as assigned
