Bethany Covenant Church – Part-Time Youth Director Position

Vision and Objective:

Bethany Covenant Church seeks a gifted individual to join the church staff, our youth volunteer team, the Children, Youth and Family (CYF) ministry team and our congregation in creating a healthy, missional, God-honoring community of faith, focusing on equipping and empowering middle and high school students and their families toward a deep, active, personal, and growing faith in Jesus Christ.

Additional Requirements:

• Demonstrated ability to connect well with youth, to lead and manage volunteers, to communicate with parents and to teach in a biblically grounded, effective manner
• Familiarity with the Evangelical Covenant Church preferred (and expected to be developed over time)

Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and overall direction to the youth ministry at Bethany Covenant Church
• Build relationships with students and their families, offering counsel and referring to pastors and/or other professionals as needed
• Be responsible for the development and coordination of the Youth Ministry, in collaboration with CYF and the senior pastor (event planning, curriculum development, etc.)
• Plan and oversee youth group gatherings (Sunday nights and special events)
• Oversee school-year Christian formation classes (Sundays, 11-11:45 am)
• Assist lead pastor with Confirmation (currently held monthly, Sunday evening following youth group)
• Equip students through modeling, teaching, relationships and experiences to live out their faith in Jesus in their families, schools, and other environments
• Help create a youth ministry culture...

• That promotes outreach to friends and those outside the church
• That helps students discover their spiritual gifts and ministry passions
• That maintains an element of fun within the program structure
• Where students feel safe

• Recruit, equip and empower adult leaders to serve in the youth ministry
• Provide teaching and resources for daily discipleship and to help students and their families develop healthy emotional and spiritual lives
• Communicate effectively with students and their families
• Support the wider church of Bethany Covenant Church, including participation in Sunday worship
• Collaborate and coordinate with other staff and ministry teams
• Maintain good working and personal relationships with church staff and volunteers

Additional Details:

• Position reports to lead pastor
• Position will average approximately 24 hrs./week but may vary depending on program rhythms and needs
• Off-site (remote) work hours may be coordinated/approved by lead pastor

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
