JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Attention and Behavior Clinic in the Department of Psychiatry is seeking 4 Lead Counselors to assist with our Summer Treatment Program (STP) for children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), and/or conduct disorder (CD). The STP is an evidence-based treatment program for 7-11-year-old children with ADHD that is implemented in a summer day camp setting. It is the only evidence-based, therapeutic summer setting designed specifically for children with ADHD in central Pennsylvania. The Penn State STP is supported by the Philanthropic efforts of the Children’s Miracle Network which allows the families in greatest need to participate regardless of their income level. Over 90% of parents who enrolled their child in a previous Penn State STP rated the program as more effective than other services their children received.

The STP has strong research supporting its positive effects on the serious behavioral, social, and academic difficulties exhibited by children with attention and behavior problems. In recent years, the STP has housed several translational research studies examining the roles of reward learning, cognitive control, motivation, and other domains on the functioning of children with ADHD.
