Job description

The Williams College Museum of Art (WCMA) is pleased to announce an opening for a part-time Museum Security Officer. This is a 20-hour, year-round, benefited position, reporting to the Security and Building Manager. The schedule is Friday 10 am – 6 pm, Saturday from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, and one other four-hour “flexible” shift to be determined. The schedule may change based on the needs of the department.

You will be part of a “front of house” team that ensures that the museum’s art collection, building, non-art contents, staff, and visitors are protected and secure, and that students, faculty and visitors feel welcomed and oriented to the museum and its various activities. The security officer works at the security desk as well as rotating in the galleries.

WCMA makes dynamic art experiences to incite new thinking about art, museums, and the world. Established in 1926, WCMA is located in Lawrence Hall, a four-story historic building on the college campus. The museum’s collection consists of more than 14,000 works of art. A vibrant cultural center, WCMA serves as a learning museum for both Williams students, and the community as a whole.

WCMA is committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community and strongly encourages candidates from underrepresented groups or who have experience working with a broadly diverse student population to apply.
