Position Summary:

The Packing Room Lead will assist the Production Supervisor with the daily operating functions of the Pack Line. The Pack Room Lead will have delegated responsibility of all pack room line operations. Lead will direct the line associates and Operators to pack lines that will be operational that day. Will review Production Schedule and Work Orders to ensure product is being packed according to specified line requirements. The Packing Line Associate and Operators will be monitored by the Packing Lead to ensure Quality, GMP, Safety, Production, Training and Housekeeping requirements are being met. The Pack Lead will conform to the required GMP and Safety procedures follow all verbal and or written instructions of the Land O Lakes policies, Operations Direct Shift Supervisor, Quality Control and Management staff.

Shift: 1:30pm – 10:00pm

Wages: $31.42/hr.

Lead Daily Responsibilities:

• Conduct a walkthrough of your area of operation in the pack room to make sure equipment is operational and you are staffed correctly.
• Communicate with out-going shift Leads as to Work Order completions and equipment operational status
• Report all Non-Conforming discrepancies to Operations Supervisor, QC and Management in a timely manner.
• Communicate the daily Passdown to all Pack line Associates
• Ensure all associates conduct the required stretching exercises before starting work on the lines.
• Check each Pack line for CCP 5 adherence, all codes are present to include lot number, expiry date and correct lid.
• The Lead will assist Pack Line Operators with daily equipment checks prior to start up and Work Order verification
• Monitor the CRIS system and make sure it is monitoring the correct lid is on the line.
• Assist team in transportation of production carts, baskets, materials and equipment if needed.
• Second Shift Lead will report out all WIP left in Pack room before leaving.
• Second Shift Lead will work with Operations Supervisor to assist in translating next day’s Passdown.
• Sign off on each Pallet Tag after checking and verifying information on pallet
• Keep lines flowing by removing completed pallets from the production pack line. (Forklift Certified)
• Fill out a daily Pallet/ Forklift Safety checklist prior to using the equipment.
• Report broken, damaged, dirty baskets, carts, foils, cups or any materials/equipment that does not conform to our standards
• Attend the daily efficiency meeting with Operations Supervisor and support team.
• Maintain and Fill out Daily Labor efficiency during the shift
• Maintain the Pack line Report and get it turned in daily for your shift
• Maintain and Fill out associate daily attendance checklist turn into office before leaving
• Track and check temporary associate’s timesheets and sign off daily.
• Work with assistant to make sure all Work Orders are completed and material is issued per BOM
• Notify Filler Operator and Lead of any erratic machine functions
• Ability to read and understand English
• Comply with all GMP, personal protective clothing, hair covering and hearing protection policies
• Report all safety and GMP violations

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Traits:

• Follow instructions and support Production Supervisor as required, take responsibility for all Pack room personnel, Leadership Skills are required to communicate and complete daily tasks, decision making and justification of those actions, Good strong Safety/GMP reinforcement skills. Forklift or Pallet Jack Certified

Decision-making: Limited to Pack room operational area, will communicate will Operations supervisor on anything critical or safety related.

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

Equipment Used: Must be able to use a variety of food packing equipment, hand trucks, carts, baskets.

Education Requirement: High School diploma/GED preferred.

Physical Demands

• Will need to be able to work in a cold environment where temperatures can vary from 45° to 32° degrees.
• Will need to be available to work Overtime, Weekends including Saturday and Sunday based on production needs.

• Lift Capacity: up to 25 lbs. - Occasionally

• Noise typical of a production environment - Entire shift/Hearing Protection Required

Time Demands:

• On occasion, business demands may require some employees to work overtime.
• When overtime is required, employees are expected to work extra hours as required to meet business needs – this is a requirement of this position.
