Outside Sales Engineer - Process Analytics Specialist (North Dakota, Remote)

Reports to: Sales Manager, Minneapolis Office

Territory: North Dakota

Primary Responsibilities:

As an Outside Sales Engineer with Jasper Engineering, you will have a robust line card of process instrumentation product lines. Top product lines consist of Mettler Toledo Process Analytics, Siemens Instrumentation and Dynaflo control valves

This position involves explaining highly technical information to customers, focusing on revealing how a product, application and our solutions can solve specific problems. This position is responsible for exceeding regional targets in the hygienic and process market segments (Oil & Gas, Pharmaceutical, BioPharm, Food and Beverage, Purified Water, Chemical, Power Generation, Ethanol, and Paper).

Sales:

  • Consistently meet and exceed sales and gross profit performance targets and objectives by executing a jointly developed plan to grow the assigned territory
  • Establish yourself as a trusted advisor with the customer base by analyzing customer pain points, mastering product & application knowledge, and differentiating Jasper product lines from the competition
  • Proactively penetrate accounts and generate business at new sites
  • Build relationships with customers and colleagues and maintain the highest level of integrity
  • Develop and execute a strategic territory plan to include the methodology needed to achieve sales growth including all sales and related activities; i.e. lead generation, cold calling, nurturing, product demonstrations, sales calls, organizing and presenting technical seminars, application feasibility tests, performing demonstrations for products and coordinating customer support
  • Proactively engage with our vendors in the region to build rapport and support for Jasper as a partner

Technical Competency:

  • Achieve technical and application proficiency with all product lines available to you applying value positioning and core application knowledge
  • Use application knowledge to identify companies that could benefit from Jasper Engineering product offering

Marketing Support:

  • Provide support for marketing efforts in the way of promotional content: App examples, White Papers, Demonstrations
  • Identify and participate in local trade shows/events to promote Jasper and our partners
  • Respond to and report on leads in a timely manner
  • Assist with growing Jasper's contact database through prospecting and communication of prospecting results (contacts)
  • Assist Jasper in identifying new technologies (product lines) that serve the organization and the local territory

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience with analytical instrumentation, industrial process instrumentation or water purification equipment
  • 3+ years of direct sales experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal skills are critical for optimum communication both with our vendor partners and at end user clients
  • Must be self-motivated, work well in a collaborative team environment and be able to develop and maintain relationships at all levels of our client organizations.
  • Excellent computer application skills in Google Office Suite and customer relationship management tools
  • Intimate knowledge of pharmaceutical applications and accounts is a plus

Team:

  • This position is a replacement and backfill to our existing sales person in Bismarck, ND. He will be retiring over the next year. This position will benefit from learning from the current salesman, key introductions and hands on experience. Our current salesman has been selling instrumentation and valves for 40+ years in North Dakota.
  • You will benefit from an established territory with abundant room for growth
  • Jasper’s team of Sales Engineers regularly share experiences to build a sense of tribal knowledge with a common purpose
  • You will have a local, dedicated inside sales and training resource to assist with quotations and customer facing technical support plus a larger inside sales team at the Medina office
  • Field Service Engineers from Jasper Engineering and the factory are available for commissioning and field support needs
  • Assist the development of those around you

Working Conditions:

  • The role will be full time, remote home office, with the candidate living in North Dakota and reporting to our Medina (suburban Minneapolis, MN) office
  • You will be entrusted with a robust account base and opportunity to grow the business
  • Occasional overnight travel is required and is usually less than 3-4 nights per month
  • Occasional evening dinners and events are required. Usually less than 1-2 per month

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
