We are seeking ophthalmic assistants to join our established team.

Summary of Responsibilities
Responsible for daily patient care and clinic flow. The responsibilities of an ophthalmic technician are focused on providing direct patient care, telephone triage, patient education, and assisting the doctor with a variety of tasks. Tasks are performed according to written procedures and are generally supervised or reviewed by the clinic supervisor or doctor. **No experience necessary we will provide on-the-job training**

List of Responsibilities/Duties

  • Promptly and professionally assists the doctor in patient care.
  • Performs technical workups, collects and records patient history, exam results, and observations on appropriate forms in EMR.
  • Communicates with patients regarding follow-up care, surgeries, procedures, changes in schedule, symptoms, surgery scheduling, etc.
  • Maintains and cleans all equipment being used, and reports to supervisor if not in working condition.
  • Assists with returning patient phone calls related to clinic questions or concerns.
  • Accurately performs the following: Visual Acuity, Refractometry, Lensometry, Slit Lamp Exams, Tonometry, OCT imaging, Keratometry, P.A.M. Testing, B.A.T Testing, Biometry, Immersion, Pupil Assessments, Pachymetry, Color and Stereo Vision Testing, Corneal Topography, Visual Field Testing.
  • Clean and sterilize ophthalmic instruments.
  • Prep trays for in-office procedures.
  • Fluoresceine angiography.
  • Laser prep (SLT, YAG, LPI).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience in Ophthalmology is a plus.
  • Experience using Epic or any EMR is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understands and communicates well with patients.
  • Understands and follows procedures for surgical and procedural consent and communicates them well with patients.
  • Has the ability to perform basic math and algebra calculations.
  • Displays consistent professionalism.
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft office products.
  • Consistently displays positive rapport with fellow employees.
  • Cooperates with supervisory staff and physicians.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in job assignments.
  • Demonstrates initiative in accomplishing practice goals.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • A demonstrated ability to work accurately and efficiently in a detail-oriented environment is essential.
  • Medical terminology and anatomy are desirable.
  • Ophthalmic Assistants must maintain competency in performing all work tasks, including current, upgraded, and/or new equipment, documentation, and/or office procedures. No experience required.
  • Willingness to help in all areas and understand the need for efficient use of time.
  • Flexibility to travel between office locations in Manchester, Nashua, and Bedford.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to write.
  • Must be able to hold arms at shoulder height.
  • Must be able to communicate via phone.
  • Must have the manual dexterity to work with ophthalmic equipment.
