Essential Responsibilities:

Support and Information Line

  • Provide crisis intervention counseling, advocacy, information and referrals to individuals calling the agency's 24-hour support line and online chat
  • Maintain accurate client records complete data entry in a timely manner using WEAVE’s client database.
  • Assist with maintaining WEAVE’s internal referral book up to date.
  • Provide information about WEAVE services and refer to appropriate external resources if WEAVE services are not applicable to caller’s needs.
  • Respond in a timely manner to the message board submissions from WEAVE website when assigned.
  • Provide triage and crisis intervention counseling via telephone and chat.
  • Provide danger assessment and safety planning for crisis line callers.
  • Conduct screenings of callers requesting emergency shelter.
  • Provide front desk coverage at the Counseling Center as needed.

Safehouse

  • Screen prospective residents.
  • Provide support and advocacy for clients in person and over the phone.
  • Maintain high visibility and availability throughout the shelter and initiate contact with residents.
  • Provide emergency transportation when needed via Safehouse van.
  • Provide crisis intervention counseling, advocacy, information and referrals to individuals calling the 24-hour support line when other coverage of the line is not available
  • Maintain accurate client records and statistics in a timely manner
  • Maintain close communication with other shelter staff
  • Maintain facility safety by following safety policies and procedures and notifying supervisor of any potential hazards.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks such as: stocking and restocking facility supplies as needed. Execute tasks and cleaning projects to maintain a clean and organized space in the safehouse’s business office and staff breakroom.
  • Be available to provide support to residential client’s immediate needs such as emergency food, supplies, and emotional support, when needed.

Other Responsibilities

  • Complete WEAVE’s 69-hour Peer Counseling Certification Training and complete continuing education annually as required to maintain certification.
  • Must work at least 8 hours in 8 weeks to keep on-call employment status
  • Develop positive working relationships with other local organizations and agencies
  • Maintain accurate and timely timesheets.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, sex trafficking and child abuse.
  • Responsible for reporting and documenting calls and client interactions in a timely manner using WEAVE’s client database. Documentation must be completed while on shift.
  • Be familiar with legal, medical, housing, educational and social service agencies and resources in the community which may be of use to residents
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Complete required Support Line and Safehouse relevant training to stay current on best practices and resources available, as needed or required.

Qualifications:

  • Combination of education and experience to successfully perform job duties. One (1) year related experience such as crisis intervention and/or residential services preferred
  • Experience working with clients who have experienced domestic and/or sexual violence in a client-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive way
  • Ability to maintain professional and healthy boundaries between clients and staff
  • Crisis intervention, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member
  • Ability to provide a valid copy of CA driver's license, have reliable transportation and submit current proof of vehicle insurance
  • Ability to work evenings, overnights, days, weekends and holidays as needed
  • Complete WEAVE’s (69 hour) Peer Counseling Training classroom training and counselor certification program and maintain certification (required)
