Aging in Place is locally owned and operated by a nurse that understands the true meaning of compassion. As a preferred provider for the VA, Aging In Place is honored and committed to providing quality care to Veterans who have bravely served our country and deserve a helping hand in return. Currently, we are looking for like-minded caring and devoted caregivers who are passionate about improving the lives of these Veterans. For this position you will be caring for 2 different Veterans in the Bates City/Grain Valley area. The first shift would be from 9:15am-1:15pm. The second shift would be from 1:30-3:45, Monday-Thursday. All caregivers including males and veterans are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
-
Provide personal hygiene assistance for elderly patients or those recovering from surgeries, injuries, or accidents by attending to their basic needs, such as showering, bathing, dressing, and eating
-
Help clients take prescribed medication and assist clients with ambulation
-
Help with mobility around the house or outside (doctor’s appointments, walks, etc.)

Assist with planning and preparing meals

Help with physical therapy exercises
- Perform cognitive exercises with clients

Perform housekeeping duties

Report any unusual incidents and changes in the health status of the client

Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
-
Offer activities that are essential for daily living

Suggest and participate in activities that are engaging and enriching for the client
Qualifications
-
Enjoy working in a one-on-one setting
-
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with the physical capability to perform job-related duties

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation every single day

Ability to act in a compassionate and supportive manner

Prior experience in healthcare or in-home care environment
-
Willingness to enforce health and safety standards
- Good written and verbal communication skills

High School Diploma or equivalent/Experience as a Caregiver, CNA or HHA, or completion of a CNA Program

Take pride in providing high-quality care

Eager to improve and continuously learn new skills
