The main responsibility of the Nurse Midwife Program Lead is to provide leadership and direction for the DNP- Nurse Midwife (DNP-NM) program. This includes networking with professional colleagues to maintain a positive relationship with Montana health care nurse midwife practitioners and coordination of clinical placements for incoming and continuing nurse midwife students, and oversight of overall student success.

Duties and Responsibilities
Oversees implementation of the DNP-Nurse Midwife program for Montana State University, ensuring the midwifery program meets all administrative and curricular requirements of the American Commission on Midwifery Education (ACME) and CCNE.
Supports the continuing development of the nurse midwife option in the context of the College’s reputation for rural expertise and high-quality healthcare.
Maintains a positive presence in the health care arena in Montana, securing and coordinating clinical placement sites for incoming and continuing DNP-NM students.
Maintains a faculty practice and assists other faculty in developing faculty practice opportunities.
Utilizes the following standards and guidelines when considering issues for the nurse midwife program (e.g. curriculum changes, teaching and clinical supervision assignment recommendations, graduate student admissions recommendations).
Facilitate the gathering and maintaining of program records that are required for annual reports, grants, accreditation, and similar needs.
Works collaboratively and maintains regular communication to coordinate projects and participate in decision making.
Compile evaluations from preceptors, clinical supervisors, and students for the clinical course work; discuss issues of concern regarding these evaluations and participate in problem solving.
Act as a resource for prospective students and, in general, maintains a role of recruiting and retaining quality DNP nurse midwife students.
Provide recommendations to and periodically meet with the Campus Directors to discuss graduate teaching assignments for the clinical nursing courses.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Master’s degree in Nursing.
An unencumbered Montana APRN license with prescriptive authority to practice in Montana and hold current national certification by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB).
Demonstrated successful work experience and clinical competency in nursing and nurse midwifery.
Demonstrated ability working in a collegial team environment.
Experience teaching college and/or adult learners in nurse midwifery.
Demonstrated experience effectively using information technology to prepare and present instructional materials.
Demonstrated experience working with and engaging diverse students and colleagues within and outside the department.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
For teaching in the DNP program, earned doctoral degree in nursing.
A minimum of two (2) years of clinical APRN experience.
Expertise with simulation technology for teaching-learning.
Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation, and evaluation of nurse midwifery curricula.

Position Special Requirements/Additional Information
Appointment: Full-time (1.0 FTE) tenure track or non-tenure track; Academic year (10 month) appointment with additional, negotiable summer appointment. Academic rank negotiable.

If the position is hired at NTT, this position MAY BE a Union position. Union membership is determined by the amount of work being contracted.

Non-Tenure Track Faculty – Any position that is .5 FTE or more is represented by the Associated Faculty of Montana State University (AFMSU). Faculty covered by AFMSU may choose to pay membership dues. Additional information can be found at AFMSU or by emailing AFMSU.
Any position less than .5 FTE is not represented by the Union and is not required to pay dues.

The Program
The Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing baccalaureate program includes two years of lower-division study that can be completed at any campus and two years of study at an upper-division campus site (Bozeman, Billings, Great Falls, Kalispell and Missoula). Faculty members are assigned to a campus where they live, work and supervise students in a variety of health care agencies.
