Unique opportunity at an intimate, boutique facility for women with substance use disorders and underlying trauma and mental health issues. This is an excellent position for someone with leadership traits and looking to advance their career in a leadership role with this population. Located directly on the Edisto River in Jacksonboro, South Carolina (just across the Charleston County line, 30 minutes outside of Charleston), Hammocks on the Edisto is a 24 hour, residential, behavioral health care facility specializing in the treatment of women dealing with an alcohol and/or drug addiction. The residents’ typical length of stay is thirty (30) days.

Job Summary

The Nurse Manager is an experienced, compassionate, and dedicated RN with strong leadership and communication skills. The position combines years of clinical nursing experience, education, and managerial acumen to oversee all aspects of care related to nursing service, while coordinating with medical staff, senior management, facility team members, patients, and their families. This position will supervise the Nursing and support staff of our 24 hour substance use residential facility, creating a collaborative and efficient work place, with attention to patient safety, quality patient care, and adherence to Federal and State laws, as well as regulatory/accreditation standards set forth by The Joint Commission.

Full Time position, with a comprehensive benefit plan and competitive salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications. EOE.

Qualifications

1. Graduated from an accredited Nursing program, with at least five (5) years of nursing experience and at least three (3) years of nursing experience in an inpatient/residential treatment setting for substance use disorders and mental health. Previous supervisory experience is highly desired. Must have a current Registered Nurse state license in the state of South Carolina.

2. CPR/First Aid certification required.

3. Prior experience in behavioral health/substance use disorder treatment preferred. Knowledge of the disease model of addiction, co-occurring disorders, the recovery process, relapse prevention, and 12 step programs highly desired.

4. Minimum of 2 years prior managerial/supervisory experience in similar role, with emphasis on quality patient outcomes, adherence to regulatory standards of care, and enforcement of facility policies and procedures.

5. Effective leadership skills to direct, oversee, and evaluate nursing personnel and support staff.

6. Ability to maintain pleasant working relationships; detail oriented; works effectively, independently; highly organized and able to multi-task and prioritize; reliable and responsible; readily takes initiative; excellent written communication skills and professional telephone manner; computer literate.

7. Previous experience with electronic medical records preferred.

8. Must be relentlessly passionate about making a positive impact on the world and passionate about being a part of our mission of treating individuals who are struggling with behavioral health and substance use issues.

Nursing Duties- General

Ability to function effectively and efficiently in all day to day nursing functions as needed, to include, but not limited to:

1. Administration of all medications, treatments, inoculations, and tests, as allowable by law

2. Implementation of medical staff orders and authenticating in writing, within a reasonable time, and included in the patient record

3. Completion of all tasks within the scope of nurse practice, and the facility's policies and procedures, to include actual and simulated emergency protocols

4. Accurate and timely documentation of patient observations/activities in the electronic medical record, in accordance with nursing standards and facility policies and procedures

5. Active and compassionate interactions with patients and families throughout their treatment stay

6. Oversight and completion of all aspects of a new patient admission pertaining to Nursing, to include completion of initial nursing assessment/health history within required time frames

7. Monitoring patients through a safe transition to residential level of care, to include management of potential ongoing withdrawal symptoms

Nurse Manager Duties

1. Plans and outlines general nursing procedures to be observed by professional and nonprofessional nursing personnel.

2. Accountable for Nursing Performance Improvement and contributes to problem identification, investigation, and monitoring of resolutions in providing quality care and patient satisfaction.

3. Analyzes data collected and submits monthly report to Quality Improvement Committee.

4. Oversees and adheres to safety regulations in facility policies and procedures and external regulatory bodies.

5. Provides support and acts as a resource for development and implementation of Infection Control, universal precautions policies and procedures.

6. Supports and coordinates patient safety issues in conjunction with Risk Management.

7. Ensures staff education and in-services in the areas of safety, infection control, OSHA, patient risk areas, CPR, and all regulatory requirements.

8. Analyzes, reviews, and completes follow up on incident reports related to nursing/patient safety issues in conjunction with Risk Management.

9. Ensures staff compliance with facility/unit policies and procedures, protocols, and guidelines.

10.Sets work standards and code of ethics which lead to quality of care. Counsels and disciplines staff per policy as needed; Deals with sensitive situations involving staff, contracted employees, patient/families, physicians, or others.
